The USA seems to have it right with www.gasbuddy.com. also I haven't seen anyone mention this site www.whatprice.co.uk/car/petrol-stations.php which seems to be doing something similar to taxigas but the user interface is a bit easier (you dont have to download google earth for a start!)

I almost always get my petrol from my local tesco as apart from a station about 10 miles away they are consistently the cheapest. That was, however until this week. First there's the banner advertising the 5p discount on fuel when you spend £50 or more instore, give it a few days (while people run their tanks to empty to make the most of it) and then UP THE PRICE.
It is now, for the first time in a long time, the DEAREST around.
Do they think we don't realise what their doing? Perhaps I'm fussing to much, but I find it insulting when they pull stunts like this and it reminds me that I should support other companies also as who knows what dirty tricks they would pull if they were the only suppliers to the area.
Needless to say I shan't be buying any petrol there until the prices come back down!

    Hi,

You don't need to download Google Earth for TaxiGas.co.uk. You can view the map on the page directly if you prefer (But google Earth is well worth downloading even if you don't use it with TaxiGas!).

Kaz - I used to get my petrol from Tesco until I realised my car just doesn't do as many miles with their fuel. I have tested this but obviously can't prove it.

Putting some prices into TaxiGas.co.uk (for my area - Cambridge) this weekend, I noticed that Tesco aren't the cheapest at the moment. I didn't have a 5p off voucher either so I waited until I was due to pass by Morrisons. That's the whole point of TaxiGas.

    Seconded.

When I tried Taxigas I input my postcode which is in Oldham, Greater Manchester and it displayed a long list which covered areas from York in the North to Towns on the South East coast ...H,mmm I feel the journey to Brighton might negate a few pence saving.

The second time I tried it again and this time nothing came up at all.

Btw there are people who still use IE ??

Well, here's my pounds's worth (you don't save tuppence worth on this site, you save more!)... or do I mean, tuppence a litre is a pound off my fill-up?

TaxiGas.co.uk - sorry Richard, but the functionality of your site does not work on the increasingly popular FireFox browser which I use (no heading graphic, and nothing happens when clicking the "View Table" button). Found I did still have a copy of Mickysoft Internet Exploder 6.0 and tried that - ah, improvement - graphic appears, but the Table fails and tells me "Sorry, no prices found in that region" which given I am inside the M25 is not much help. Hope you can fix this soon.

PetrolPrices.com meanwhile works on FireFox and tells me I have 23 stations within 5 miles of me. Ah, that's more like it. And the prices are accurate too. :D Here's a natty enhancment to consider, Paul... Give the user the ability to save one "favourite search" and then produce an RSS/XML feed based on it. Then I could get a daily report (as you update your site daily) of the cheapest fuel around me automatically to my desktop.
Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
    Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying

    Sorry Judderman,

No-one has contributed data in the Oldham area, but for anyone living in an area where there is current data, your search can be limited to your local area rather than showing all data.

    Richard.

I know this is an old thread, but I would be interested to know which is the best site for looking at petrol prices now that the AA site is down.

So far www.petrolprices.com seems to give pretty accurate data, but no interesting historical stuff. www.whatgas.com gives a nice searchable map and you dont have to register, www.whatprice.co.uk/petrol-prices/petrol-retailer.html gives a good breakdown of price by retailer and historical price, and seems to get a lot of its data from the whatgas site. www.taxigas.co.uk seems to have come a bit commercial and you have to sign up as a company to see their data I think.

Are there any others out there? something better than these?

No need to sign up to see the data. But would be great if you would sign up to contribute some price reports! The user data is not used for bulk emailing, your privacy is respected. You have to sign up to help weed out the spammers who might otherwise use the site, and so that I can check any price reports with you if they seem to be off the mark.

Also, the site is hardly commercial since the small amount of advertising revenue does not cover the hosting costs. This is a spare time project on my part.

    Best Regards,

    Richard
