Tuna and pasta again I'm afraid, but you don't bake it.

Big tin of tuna (I use it in brine, but in oil should do)
    Big tin of chopped tomatoes
Little tin of anchovies in oil
    Onion
    Clove (or two?) of garlic
Herbs (Dried mixed or fresh chopped)
Dried pasta (The shell shapes go with the fishy theme)

Chop the onion and garlic, and fry them in the oil from the anchovies (don't waste it!) in a saucepan until soft. Chop up the anchovies. Drain the tuna. Add them, along with the tomatoes. If using dried herbs, add them now. Stir it all together. Bring to boil, then simmer. Boil the pasta in another saucepan, stirring to stop it sticking together. Depending on the size of the saucepans, add the fish & tomatoes to the pasta or vice versa. If using fresh chopped herbs, add them now. Stir together and then serve.

Tuna fishcakes. Mix drained tuna, mashed potato leftovers, chopped spring onion, capers (if you have them) and egg and shape into patties and fry.

This was tea tonight for DS and DH.....

tin of chopped tomatoes, tin of tuna, chopped up mushrooms, couple of handfuls of sweetcorn, good pinch of Italian dried herbs, garlic puree, tomato puree all mixed together. Topped with grated cheese. Cook, covered, in fan oven at 180c for 20 mins. Serve with new potatoes and any veg you fancy.

Tuna & cream cheese, with chives, wrapped in filo pastry and baked in the oven until crisp.
  • How do you make that?

If you can make it cheaper do so. If it's not reduced, in Primark, off ebay or free I can't have it

Tuna curry - cut potatoes into smallish chunks (about 1inch square) and boil until just done and drain. Meanwhile fry chopped onion, garlic, grated ginger, 1/4 tsp cumin seeds (add these with the onions, before everything else). 1/2 tsp each ground cumin and coriander, chilli powder to taste, 1/2 tsp turmeric. Also add any veg you have - I use sliced peppers - and when it's all cooked, stir through a tin of drained tuna and the potatoes to coat. Surprisingly yummy! Serves 2

I used to make this a lot. It's really good, it's from Cas Clarke's Grub On a Grant.

Take 1 tin of tuna, 1 tin of condensed soup (tomato/chicken/mushroom) and 1 tin of sweetcorn.

Mix together, place in a buttered baking dish. Top with triangles of toast and grated cheese. Bake for about 30 mins.

It was so good, I don't really know why I don't make it now -probably because I can't help reading the ingredients list on the soup cans- still some of them aren't too bad.

I seem to have quite a lot of tins of tuna in my cupboard,
I was wondering if anyone had some nice tried and tested recipes.
    thanks, suzy

I had this in Spain and it is delish.

Get some flaky pastry and roll it into a square.

Drain and mix the tuna with some tomato puree.

spread it onto half the pastry,

fold the whole thing into a parcel,

brush with milk or egg and bake in a hottish oven for as long as it takes.

This is good hot or cold.

I have a little story about tuna. At the time of the first LiveAid concert there was a rush of projects to raise money. One of them was a cookery book of donated recipes that was compiled by Delia Smith.

There were recipes by the rich and famous, including a borscht recipe from princess Diana. The interviewer asked her which was the most popular recipe that came from the general public. Delia said it was tuna casserole and she had had over 200 different ones. The interviewer said that it must have been very hard to choose which one to put in.

Oh no! said Delia, I wasn't having a tuna recipe in my book! I was so angry, I felt like Nicky - who is she, who is she, to be such a snob when it was meant to feed the starving. At the time people here were not so well off and tuna was a staple for many people - me included.

my favorite which im having tonight is ratatouille with tuna and then grated cheese on top. A basic tomato sauce with tuna added also works well

I also have tuna melt bagels which me and my bf both love

My favorite pizza is tuna with red onions and loads of cheese, red peppers are nice too.

Some lovely ideas on this thread, ive also seen a recipe for tuna lasagne somewhere which sounds nice!
