In need of 1001 things to do with tinned tuna !!

Not too sure about the banana (which should accompany hazelnut chocolate spread in sandwiches imo), but I often make tuna sandwich fillings. My usual consists of roughly equal quantities of tuna, mayonnaise, grated cheese and finely chopped onion (spring onions if available unusually cheaply). Tuna is also lovely on toasties with cheese, onion, mushroom or any combination of those.
Tuna is quite versatile, and can easily be combined with other foods that happen to be reduced or on special offer at the time. For example, the other day I made a tuna and bean creation. Ingredients: one tub Morrisons 3 bean salad (which I think is nicer hot) 15p reduced to clear; one tin tuna, 30p (I don't have an Asda nearby), one tin butter beans (BOGOF 52p I think in Somerfield); 160g pack cubed cheese, 35p from Morrisons reduced to clear dept.; one tin plum tomatoes, reduced to 10p; about 1/2 pack parsley & lemon stuffing mix, reduced to 10p. Method: Get a big casserole dish, drain tuna and butter beans, mix together everything except the cheese. Put cheese on top. Oven bake for a while, or microwave for about 7-8 minutes then put under the grill for a couple of minutes to brown the cheese. Cost per big serving: 40.33p.
Just an example; obviously you improvise according to what happens to be in the reduced to clear depts. at the time.0 -
I hope this is the right place for this, but instead of buying expensive slimming branded flavoured tuna, make your own.
I got 6 tins of tuna BOGOF of course, and then mixed them with salsa / currysauce etc.
Much cheaper and more of them than slimming branded ones, plus you can let your imagination run wild

my mum used to make us tuna turnovers.
buy a pack of puff pastry and roll out. cut into large squares.
make a white sauce and add flaked tuna. Pour some onto middle os pastry square. Fold pastry over tuna from corner to corner making a triangle, seal the sides with a fork and brush with eggwash all over.
Bake in an oven about 180 degrees until crisp and golden. serve with veggies. yummyr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0
