I'm actually pretty certain that it would.
Basically, we've given you a router free of charge and we've paid the activation cost (£40.96) on your behalf under an understanding that you stay with us for a year, otherwsie that amount becomes owable.
We're obliged legally to inform our customers of any detrimental changes to their terms and conditions and give them 30 days notice. Under the 30 days notice, they are able to leave without incurring any fixed term contract payments. Deferred charges are not included under that remit.
[comedy_misquote] I squeeze puppies, ergo I am a puppy squeezer. [/comedy_misquote]10.6 You may terminate this Agreement within the first 12 months after the Commencement Date if you agree to pay us all the costs that we have incurred in setting up your Broadband Service. This will include an installation fee of £40.96. You must also pay the cessation charge detailed in 10.7, and the full retail price for any free or subsidised hardware that you ordered from us.10.7 If you terminate this Agreement at any time, and choose not to transfer your Broadband Service using a MAC code, you will be required to pay a cessation (cancellation) fee of £20.00 to remove the Broadband Service from your telephone line. This charge is applied to us by BT.10.8 If we have made a change which is to your material detriment, you will not have to pay the charges set out in paragraph 10.6 above if you decide to end your Agreement early. However, once we have told you about such a change, you must let us know that you want to end the Agreement within thirty days.
Given the flexible nature of your terms and conditions, I won't be surprised if next time I look you've changed this as well.

That's a real angry looking dog you have there but he writes a very informative letter.Look after him.
He was fine until Madplusasafishnet started playing silly !!!!!!s with their terms and conditions at which point he curtailed his slipper-eating activities, and banged out a half-decent letter of complaint.Fasthosts ruined my life0 -
Hiya,
Can I be perfectly clear, that if BT openreach hadn't started charging Wholesale and hadn't started charging us for cease orders, we would not have made a change to our terms and conditions.
It isn't something that we like doing. If the charge is reduced or removed and I honestly say that we'll be doing the same, sharpish.
We're talking about a huge amount of money that we just can't afford to absorb.“Official Company Representative

Very interesting reading. I only go on Martin's forums (fora?) when I have a spare hour or two.
James from plusnet: I am with Madasafish (13 months with them on a 12 month contract).
Hypothetically how much would plusnet/madasafish charge me to migrate from madasafish to plusnet since the prices for broadband are less on the plusnet website are less than the price madasafish is charging me?:rotfl:
I would not need a wireless router, I already have one from madasafish.
Incidentally I have not had any notice from Madasafish they have altered my T&C.0 -
Just in case anyone was interested Madasafish/Plusnet is an anagram of:

In my case you never gave me the router free as I had my own. If Plusnet held the cessation fee at the current level I would not have a problem, however their new T & Cs will leave me financially out of pocket. IMHO Plusnet should carry the burden for the cessation fee for existing customer who are in their initial 12 month contract or allow the customer to leave now at the current cessation fee without any penalty charges0 -
@ twhitehead
There wouldn't be any charge to change your service from MAAF to Plusnet.“Official Company Representative

If you want to keep to the original ts + cs, then you should have asked them to delete the condition which allows them to make changes prior to you accepting them.
As it stands now, you agreed to them being allowed to make changes so can't now make such a demand.
You can't have it the way you now want and will have to decide whether you back off your demand, or leave now.0
