Glad you had good news re your job Rosie!
Nicki - I don't think there is anything I wouldn't do at this point (and I'm getting to the stage where legal and/or approved by Dr could even be negotiable!)
DH has tried a few times to discuss 'what if we don't succeed' but I can't even have the conversation any more - when we first started trying I could discuss that possiblity quite rationally, but now it is likely to make me hysterical, so I can't go there, I have to keep believing that we WILL get there, or I would seriously fall apart. The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Congrats on the job news Rosie Bud, must be a big relief.
As far as what would we do, it's still reasonably early days for us but at the moment I'd say we'd do anything. So far, to help me and support DW I've given up alcohol and red meat - granted it's not the same as sticking needles in yourself but i've found it pretty tough!
We're in a bit of a funny situation as having banged on about how diet has helped regulate DW, she's now on CD 45 and still no sign of AF. She's tested twice but both negative so it looks like her PCOS is playing up. On the one hand it's a bit frustrating as she is waiting to have an HSG at the start of the next cylce followed by blood test before the consultant will start us on Clomid the following cycle. However, on the other hand i'm slightly pleased as she's just been offered a job which will probably start next month and i'm now of course thinking about maternity pay qualifications etc. She's been studying for the past year so we've been down to one salary and getting by and we had discussed before she applied for jobs that we should just continue ttc no matter what happened but now she's got it my MSE side is kicking in! As I understand it, she needs to have been employed for roughly a month before getting pregnant to qualify for SMP (going by the 26 weeks continuous employment before the 15th week before she's due rule). Can't believe i'm putting financial considerations on the same level but after a week in which i thought some Icelander was going to be keeping all my money before finding out that actually the Dutch were taking it instead i kind of can't help it! Is that bad of me?!

Hi Meltrix,
I'd say that was pretty normal and sensible actually!
Whilst I understand the desparate desire to have a baby (Oh how I understand it....), IMHO it is extremely irresponsible to bring a child into the world without considering how you will support it, so you have to consider the finances too.
Does that sound incredibly pompous and 'holier than thou'? - I hope not, as I'm not trying to 'have a go' at anyone, honest!

I totally agree with you and no it doesn't sound pompous or holier than thou!
I probably didn't paint the right picture for us when writing what i did, in that we are very lucky and can actually get by fine on one salary as we've done for a year and as far as having children is concerned we'd still be ok. As DW says we don't actually need her to work hence her wanting to carry on regardless, it's just that i'm thinking we'd be able to save more and be more comfortable if she did qualify for maternity.0 -
May I join?
I posted way back on the other thread, then lurked for ages! Me and DH have been TTC for near on 2 years now. I'm 39 and he's 38. No other children.
DH's swimmers have been deemed everything from 'unreadable' to 'not bad, a couple of million in there!'. Everything seems to be working OK with me (We've had sperm analysis and an internal scan for me as part of initial IVF procedure, but now have to wait until January to attend an open evening at the fertility clinic before we can proceed with the heavy stuff!)
We didn't have a good start with the FC. We had to wait 8 months to get seen, and were initially told I was too old for free treatment, although I was referred with two months to spare. They had lost the referral letter when we attended the first appointment and then said the onus was on us to prove our case!! Lots of running around, getting letter re-sent etc, but eventually capitulated. Have to say the consultant has been pretty rubbish in terms of communication, or even basic politeness. (She is known as 'Skeletor' to me and DH!):rotfl:
So now at day 29 of normally very regular 26 day cycle. Just done a test, BFN obviously, and I know AF will be here soon, all the signs/cramps are in place. Friends have just emailed who have been married for 4 months, and their pregnant.... Loads of other friends around who have seemed to reproduce as soon as they decide they want to. I'm just getting sick to death of 'hope' which has, so far, done me no good whatsoever. I'm trying not to think of the 'worse case scenario' ie: it never happens, because it just feels so bleak.
Anyway, enough ranting for now. It really does help reading and seeing there are other people who are going through the same thing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for lots of lovely positive results very soon for all of us. And heartfelt congrats for all the 12+ month ladies who have had BFPs recently!!!

Well as a 39 (soon to be 40) year old woman, who has been ttc since January 2006, I always said I didn't think I could go through IVF. Since getting so much bad news along the fertility route (my ovulation seems below average, OH has probs too), we are starting to reconsider as we don't think there is likely to be any other way.
I am annoyed with myself that we didn't do anything earlier. Because my Mum took a long time to conceive, I didn't think it was a problem. Of course, my Mum was ten years younger than me when she started trying, I am now two years old than she was when she had her third child.
I guess its a lesson to be learned but it does make you wake up.
Have a good day.
I understand about the wishing you had done things earlier. I Knew I would have problems, but still waited til I was older before having my family. And although I have one, I always wanted 4!!!! I would be quite happy to settle for another one, but I dont know whether I will be lucky enough.
I believe that my problems are stress related - so I am really really trying to stay calm and unstressed - AND I REALLY DONT DO CALM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yes i was shouting!!)

Just cross posted with Mrs Nozzle - welcome to this thread, we are a friendly lot, and what is nice is that we are all in the same boat - some at different stages than others but we are all going through the mill, and I think, mostly about the same ages as well. Come on whenever you want, let off steam, tell us whatever you want (there as no such thing as TMI!!) whenever you want. If you need help or info, one of us has probably some experience of it - or else you can give us the info if we havent!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all!
Meltrix I think you're really sensible, and same goes for you FairyElephant. I just hate that there are people out there that fall pg at the drop of a hat (literally) with nothing (financially and suchlike) and yet us peeps on here who, I think, all seem like we have our heads screwed on are struggling to conceive. It all seems so unfair sometimes, doesn't it. I have to say that mine and my DH situation means I will have to return to work, although I hope at reduced hours but we have a strong family unit who will (hopefully) be available to help with childcare - which will reduce the amount of hours I need to do. I don't really want it to be that way, I would love to have a min of 2 years off to look after bubs when it gets here but thats pie in the sky for me I think. I will keep playing the lottery anyway!
Welcome to MrsNozzle :hello:
Have good days everyone and woohoo, thank god its friday!!

Miss Pink, congratulations and best wishes for the coming months! :j
Are you going to carry on collecting samples for Clearblue? I'm sure I read that they give you vouchers for doing so?
Do you think using the monitor helped or not?:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
