Pulse: On a couple of occasions I have called the Swindon stores - staff have gone off to check stock (their first response is the computer says they have x number in stock). Oddly, when they come back they say there are none. This happened with the remote that came up last week.

When I have gone in person, I have picked up bargains but I have been clocked by certain staff members who go off and clear out anything I left.

I am quite certain that staff, especially in Dixons, are buying up stock to sell on, and they use customer reserve calls to identify the bargains.

    Just my view! :(

I went got the game cube n asked about Zelda, said none left!

If anyone has a spare one let me know!

    Thanx
  • I just picked up a black cube for £24.99 - no game though. Should it have come with Zelda? I'd have loved that :( anyone wanna sell a spare?
  • Are these gamescubes on the shelf or do you have to ask?

I have visited 2 stores but could not see them anywhere.

I therefore assumed they have no stock left. Staff were busy so couldnt be bothered to ask.

Same thing with the PSones at dixons. Anyone know if they being displayed?
  • I didn't notice if they were on the shelf but I didn't notice any obvious display when I walked in. I rang up before hand, asked them to put it aside and picked it up when I got there. At first they said they might not have any as it transpired it was an empty box! But a lad went in the back and discovered they had a good few.

I've just ordered one from my local store - I'm hoping it doesn't get sold to someone else before I get there! I was told by the guy on the phone that the gamecube (as it is now) is being discontinued and the new version will be out in a couple of weeks.

When I posted on another board about gamecubes etc., someone pointed out that any new games will not be compatible with the old gamecube. Something to bear in mind. If you're happy to pick up second hand games, then fine but if not, maybe it's not such a bargain after all.

have heard this from a few people now which i thought was odd as nintendo are usually good on backwards compatibility (i.e the nintendo ds can play games form the gameboy sp etc) , so i googled and found:

hope this helps :) but either way there are so many games out there and it is aimed at the younger end of the market so i wouldn't worry too much xx
