I have just tried to book 2 nights in one of their hotels, their website is "unable to process the request at this time".
Their marketing team is going to be in real trouble with the management if they lose out on real bookings because of this promotion - especially in the current economic climate!
Those of us who tried to bag a bargain may be upset but I actually think the staff at LHW will have had a much worse day/week than us.
I totally agree, when put like that it makes you realise there are real people getting it in the neck for this fiasco.0 -
Me and the gf also tried to make a booking through their website last night for one night in Hotel D'Europe in Amsterdam but it wouldn't let us book. We kept getting hung on the processing screen like what was happening to people yesterday during the offer. LHW will now loose their portion because we will end up booking directly on the Hotel site.
All I can say is atleast they're trying to make it fair. Better than putting more people off by havnig another fiasco like yesterday. Good on LHW im saying. 50% off for all 150,000 people would be nice :PThis is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
Any official insert from MSE about this yet? They seem to be conspicuous by their absence.0

I'm not a big David Tennant fan , but what is wrong with a trained actor appearing in a Shakespearean role? Hardly trashy , unless actors are only allowed to do tellies ..
It's not that it's David Tennant particularly (I don't even know why he was brought up?!), it's just the way Rainbow Carnage said it, as if it was Laurence Olivier or something. I mean David Tennant... I'm sure he can act, but not necessarily any better than his non-TV-famous counterparts. So why mention him??
The main issue is that they were being a snob about money to us, which there is no space for on this forum. They said that we were cheapskates and that we'd never usually stay in these hotels.
If someone is a snob to me, I'm a snob back about their tastes. I wouldn't usually say that going to see David Tennant play Hamlet is trashy. It's just that in this case, I think Rainbow Carnage saying 'oooh, I went to see David Tennant play Hamlet' for no particular reason but to make themselves look somewhat educated and therefore better than us cheapskates, is a bit trashy.

I am now not even going to bother with this so called promotion!!!
I think, after the balls up of the original offer, LHW have been trying very hard to sort this out, so kudos to them for that. I for one would much rather they scrap it for now, sort out the problems and bring it back in a week or so after they've prepared properly, knowing what they know now. Clearly their heart is in the right place, they genuinely want to run this offer, they just hadn't fully thought it through in time (note to marketting types, if your promotion involves the internet in any way, for god's sake involve your IT people and listen to them!)0 -

I agree - according to the T&Cs they could have told us all to !!!!!! off!0 -
I'm astounded by how many can't read simple instructions
or just can't follow them
.
The form we had to fill in clearly said in its first sentence not to email it to them before 1000am BST today.....yet clearly many many people returned it as soon as they received it- fools!!
I also received a lovely email from Ted overnight saying it had been postponed again - sadly he also says he'll be in touch next week. I'm gonna be away on my annual holiday to Spain where I totally usually disconnect from my everyday life by leaving the mobile off & not going for my daily internet dose :j
Hopefully I won't be missing out on the replacement offer, but hey if I do such is life. I'm not gonna be straight back on here bleating about it :rotfl:
cheers

They didn't plan it well, then they latch onto the fact people are sending emails and try to blame that-personally I don't accept that,it's just passing the buck. Although I don't understand why people who weren't registered would send the form, but then on the offchance of a bargain..I suppose you can't blame them..0
