The form we had to fill in clearly said in its first sentence not to email it to them before 1000am BST today.....yet clearly many many people returned it as soon as they received it  - fools!!

My form email didn't say 1000am BST, but "12 noon GMT", so they are giving out wrong information.

Also, with seeing 'first come, first served basis' on the email text, and no mention of the submission time, a lot of people will have filled the form in as quickly as they could and just sent it off.

I don't think we should be empathetic to this company..so far they have just wasted approx. 2 hours of the time of 150,000 people. If we were to hazard a guess and place a monetary value on that lost time...it would probably be over £1 million.

Let's hope we all have another chance for the rooms at some point.:D
• The thing i don't understand with the form is that it was a big file (3500kb) because of the picture they put on the first page. Without it, it was 35kb. just shows how silly they were having everyone send a file 100 times the size it needed to be.
• I have to say, IMHO, the customers shouldn't be blamed for this one. A great big company does a huge offer and doesn't think their servers will get crushed? Of course they will. It's obvious by the extra people signing up to the site and the hits the offer pages got. Clearly the IT director needs to go on some kind of training course :)

And then to say people had to EMAIL them? God Lord. What donut in the marketing department thought that one up? And who in their right mind approved it? They weren't selling collectable My Little Pony pencil cases but high quality for low price hotel rooms worldwide.
• I sent the email anyway at 1pm as so many differing views to what's happening, thought hey why not sod their systems up a bit more?

It came back undeliverable :-

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

1928@lhw.com

So definitely no email offer then. Took me ages filling out that form and choosing hotels and dates, cross checking flights for the dates etc.

Holiday inn it is!
;)
• Same goes for me. I thought I'd send it anyway, and eventually got a delivery failure message.

Wonder what their next scheme will be?!
• Quick update, Ted's email is now on the LHW site:
at http://www.lhw.com/1928

Thank you so much for your continued patience with The Leading Hotels of the World. We are extremely sorry for the inconveniences we have caused and regret to advise you that the USD 19.28 email promotion scheduled for tomorrow October 2nd shall be postponed.
Although our original back-up plan provided a viable solution for the 150,000 people who were registered, it was met with some confusion over submission procedures and timing. In addition, we have become increasingly concerned that a large number of non-registered respondents plan to submit forms which would inundate the system and greatly diminish your chances of securing a USD 19.28 rate.
In view of this, please do not email your form tomorrow. You will most likely receive an error message we have put in place as a safety mechanism.
We are sincerely committed to restoring your faith in our brand and do not want to risk disappointing you again. We are working tirelessly to develop a solution that will be fair for you and all registered participants. We will email you next week with further details.
Sincerely,
Ted Teng
President & CEO
The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.

Look forward to the "solution"!! :)

hmm, if they're putting it up today, they could have at least taken out the word 'Tomorrow'.

How long did it take to get a reply about the message failure?
You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.
• My failure message took at least a couple of hours to come through.
