I'm not a big David Tennant fan , but what is wrong with a trained actor appearing in a Shakespearean role? Hardly trashy , unless actors are only allowed to do tellies ..

There's nothing wrong with it. And he does a damn fine job.

Certain people assume that because someone is on the telly, they're not a 'proper' actor, and that anyone who goes to see them in a play is a star-struck, trashy fan. Alas, this one can actually act.
  • What time did you receive this email ???

errm 9:16 pm apparently. But I think that's american time, I think I got it more like 10:16 as I got the form emailed to me not long after.

Ahh I think I'll still send the form in tomorrow on the off chance.
  • Just looked in my spam folder (which I never normally do ) and their email was there

    LHW_Blue_LOGO_1.jpg Dear Lynn

Thank you so much for your continued patience with The Leading Hotels of the World. We are extremely sorry for the inconveniences we have caused and regret to advise you that the USD 19.28 email promotion scheduled for tomorrow October 2nd shall be postponed.

Although our original back-up plan provided a viable solution for the 150,000 people who were registered, it was met with some confusion over submission procedures and timing. In addition, we have become increasingly concerned that a large number of non-registered respondents plan to submit forms which would inundate the system and greatly diminish your chances of securing a USD 19.28 rate.

In view of this, please do not email your form tomorrow. You will most likely receive an error message we have put in place as a safety mechanism.

We are sincerely committed to restoring your faith in our brand and do not want to risk disappointing you again. We are working tirelessly to develop a solution that will be fair for you and all registered participants. We will email you next week with further details.

    Sincerely,

When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!
  • Haha...this gets better and better.:rotfl:

I've also received my email from the now infamous Ted Teng.

I wonder what their next solution will be...? A jumble sale raffle would be more effective.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hopefully all 150,000 registered will be offered one night at their chosen hotel at the original price.
More probably 10% will be offered off the full price (as a goodwill gesture).

Hmmm, woken up this morning to find my email from the lovely Ted too!

I'm not expecting something for nothing, but I really hope that they offer a reasonable goodwill gesture to the 150,000. So much for Plan A and Plan B!

I am somewhat surprised by the response toward this. I thought the promotion was a great idea but unfortunately for LHW, it has gone completely and utterly wrong. It also has done some damaged to their brand name but some of the hotels are known in their own right (as opposed to being a LHW hotel). These things do happen, not usually on this scale, and I'm sure there have been many fraught meetings over the past twenty four hours. I don't really see the point in bombarding various CEOs, Directors etc. Definately if your holiday was ruined etc but this was a promotion (which went wrong) not guaranteed and unfortunately people didn't manage to get a great deal. Hopefully they will come up with something for all us going through the highs and lows yesterday - will it process, won't it process - but for 150,000 people!!!! Maybe a ballot would be the fairest way, using just the email address to select the 1 in 25 lucky ones and open up the booking period so if they can't accommodate them in their chosen hotel this year, they could make a booking in 2009 instead. :o
PS goodluck with the lastminute.com promo at 10am!
  • LHW are going to be so upset by their own promotion.

I have just tried to book 2 nights in one of their hotels, their website is "unable to process the request at this time".

Their marketing team is going to be in real trouble with the management if they lose out on real bookings because of this promotion - especially in the current economic climate!

Those of us who tried to bag a bargain may be upset but I actually think the staff at LHW will have had a much worse day/week than us.
If anything I say starts to make sense, PANIC!
