Hi guys, quick update before I dash out. Kitty had his first enforced handling session today. It went great! He was terrified and shaking at first, but me and OH both gave him attention and by the end he was really starting to enjoy the ear tickles. He is still nervous of us but has eased up a bit now. I think kitty is going to do just fine!
I will post a bit more later on when I have time. Good to see some discussion and other people being able to get advice on their kitties.0 -
That's great Aylana
Soon we'll get pictures of course, right?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Glad to hear kitty is doing well, really good news:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

hi guys!
thanks moggylover for explaining about your method and how it came about. I am glad I have forced the issue a bit, cos I have just spent a wonderful 15 minutes with kitty rubbing himself all over my hands purring with pleasure! What a change from a couple of days ago. He is still a bit nervous at times, but is coming on in leaps about bounds! I am so pleased it feels like a real achievement!! It sounds like you have had a real assortment of animals! I don't think I would have a clue what to do with a polecat! lol. OH has been won over a bit by kitty, he is eager for him to get brave enough to play so he can have a bit of fun with him!
Careful with that Axe: My mum has a cat very similar also. (A tortie!) She was a stray for a while, but not what I would call feral, and my mum has had her since she was less than 6 months old. She used to sleep mostly in my room when I lived there. Sometimes she was lovely and affectionate and rubbing against you, and then suddenly you had a big long bleeding scratch down your arm! I did love her to bits though and still do. She is nearly 15 years old now and still exactly the same. Trimming your cats nails may be a good idea if you can get hold of her long enough to do it!
Drea, I suspect there may be some pictures appearing later this evening!:D0 -
Glad you're coming along with kitty, Aylana. You know fine well you'll end up keeping it! Make sure you get it along to the vet ASAP for a health check
I've having real problems finding a kitten, I've contacted loads of rescue centres over the past few weeks and "I'm sorry, you're just a little too late, the last kitten went yesterday" seems to be all I'm hearing! Either that or the phone number is constantly engaged
I'll bet I don't just fall over one like you did, Aylana :rotfl:0 -
lol Milford_Cubicle, I wish I could keep him. But circumstances conspire against me!! Kitty will get to go down the vets and experience yet more trauma quite soon lol!
Will the rescue shelters consider keeping hold of your details for when they next get some kittens in?
Just keep your eyes open next time you are out in the dark, you never know!0 -
Yay! I found a kitty today! Not in the dark, but a rescue has a teeny tiny tortie I can have0

Ah that is great. You must be really excited! Do you have any name ideas yet?
My camera battery has died, I will recharge it and try to get some pictures tomorrow. Kitty has realised that the box that I have placed in the bathroom with blankets in is actually comfortable and is napping in there at the moment. Good to see he is investigating other parts of the room and not just the windowsill.0 -
