Correct - its a matter of who measures your daughters feet which is why you are told 'the measure is only a guide'. There is no point at all getting your childs foot measured at a 5f for example and then randomly buying a pair out of the sale just because they are a 5f. That, unfortunately, does not mean they will fit. The style you may have just purchased may be more or less generous than another pair because of the shape and styling of the shoe so your child may need a different style or size altogether.

It is quite possible and very common to get several different measurements in a short space of time - hence 'the measure is only a guide' comment to customers.

You are right - you cannot rely on the measurements given - It is the final fit of the shoe which is the most and only important thing to be concerned about.

Quackers, how can i tell if they are the right fitting for her? I know how to check on the toe distance from the front but thats it. ?The Clarks I bought my daughters shoes from just measured the feet and got me the shoes I liked and let me walk out with them. They didnt offer to put them on her.

tried more today. i've been to 7 clarks shops in and around london, and hampshire too [didn't drive there deliberatly to go to clarks, was there anyway], and i've tried today 2 clarks kids depts within large mothercares. NOTHING. all i've found is sale on adults shoes, nothing on kids.

however, did get him measured today again, and old he does not need new shoes yet...so i should wait another 2 weeks. i'm sure he's been in them since the summer, and have had him measured larger last week, but this time someone actually bothered to check the shoes he was wearing.

will try again when i'm at the other end of the country next week. :snow_laug

Managed to pick up 2 pairs for my daughter for £12 each and a some gorgeous boots for me which were £69.99 reduced to £29.99.

Give the stores a call on Sunday as thats when the sales generally start.

Was in Clarkes today in Leicester town centre. Picked up a beutiful pair for the toddler for £12 and £10 for the 6 year old. They still had a reasoble amount of shoes at sale prices left.
  • I've just bought some full price boots for myself called OKKO, chocolate brown suede ankle boots (flat). Haven't yet worn them, do you know if they will get reduced as don't want to risk wearing them and then seeing them in the sale!!!!

    Thanks Quackers!

There are no plans for those boots to be reduced as far as I'm aware. We are only made aware on a monday what is being reduced on the Thursday.

They are a popular style so I doubt if they will be reduced at all but please dont quote me on it :o

Lol! Then I won't go in on Thursday.... or maybe I will, who knows lol! Thanks for your advice though, it's invaluable! Have saved money on my daughter's shoes!

I popped in to my local Clarks today as they had up to 50% off posters splashed about all over the place. :)

Waste of time though, it was only rubbishy things (imo - sorry) that were out and the girls' footwear of any kind was poor. If you wanted black school shoes in one style then you were sorted. Otherwise.........:(

They always had good sales before but the last few times I've thought have been very poor, sadly.

Edit: Sorry Quackers...I sound a right moaning minnie, lol. I should say thanks for bothering to tell the rest of us. I'm sure many other branches will have a better stock than the one close to me, so it's still worth a visit. :)
