  • Has anyone had their money successfully transferred yet? I did mine on one of the first days of the offer (before all the adverts) & the money still hasn't been transferred.

    Applied: 22nd September
Northern Rock, funds sent on 2nd Oct, has arrived
BMW, funds sent on 9th Oct, has not arrived (yet)

Yes - 2 weeks apart for me - from a Saturday to another Saturday.

My account was opened in the branch and I was given a letter, with the number on. Account appeared online within 2 days. Balance in there 14 days later, although this is still not showing as "available" cash yet.

I don't seem to have received a closing balance from the old provider yet, although the balance does look about righ

It's good to see it has worked for some people, not me yet....

I applied in branch on 24th (I was not a Natwest customer before this) I heard nothing, so went back 2 weeks later, apparently my application was still pending (i.e they forgot to put it on the system) so they did it that day, and it showed up online the next day.

Since then I have made numerous calls to Natwest and my other providers to see if there is any movement with my money, but no-one seems to know anything!!!

Applied in branch yesterday (already a Natwest customer) and was told I'd need photo ID - even though they have my details, account and money already! Anyway, ISA account opened in 3 minutes, ISA form completed and actioned 2 mins later. Problems: 1- I should have done this earlier - they're expecting 30-60 days delay due to a huge rush of savers heading for the 2% bonus rate.
  • The saga of my transfer continues. I got my activation code today for online banking. I couldn't get it work so I called them up. Turns out they have my date of birth wrong so my customer number is wrong. I've just checked a photocopy of my application form and it's clearly written correctly. I'm really starting to dispair of Natwest :wall:

Money is now cleared and I've also received a statement from the old provider (and the figures agree)

Sorry to hear of the bad experiences (I was an existing customer)

Already a current account customer with NatWest, I applied to transfer my Nationwide ISA to them on 29 Sept. The new account (nil balance) showed online 2 days later .... I subsequently received a letter from Nationwide dated 9th October to say a cheque for my full ISA plus interest had been sent that day to NatWest. All going well I thought.
Eight days later, my new ISA account is still showing nil balance.

I am not happy about this, as I assume that I have so far lost 8 days interest!! Does anyone know if NW will be backdating this? or will they simply say that the cheque was a long time "in the post" and not their responsibility? If so, this is nothing short of scandalous.

First things first. Ask NatWest if they have received the cheque (and it's not showing) yet - and if so when. They should have recieved it on the 10th, but I wouldn't be surprised if Nationwide's cheque only went in the post the next day, the 11th (or it missed the last post) and so NatWest may only have recieved it on 13th. I would expect you to start getting interest paid by NatWest from 2 days after receipt - say 15th. But Let's assume NatWest takes about a week to actually post a receipt. So you may like to ask NatWest, while you are speaking to them, how the 'credit' date relates to interest - i.e. does interest get paid from that date - or from another (later) date. That's general information which they should be able to provide even if they can't find your cheque.

    Good luck

    Thanks Milarky for that advice.
I'll check online again tomorrow, and if still nothing showing I'll contact them on Monday to see what's going on. ..... I will be keeping my fingers crossed.
