I have the same issue I'm looking to transfer an IceSave ISA, but according to all the paperwork that I have the account number is over 8 digits and there is no sortcode......rang the 'help' line (joke) and they insisted that I must have a sort code or they would not be able to transfer..........I explained there wasn't one..........so he went away then came back a mimute later.........and said "you will need to speak to the branch as they are the specialists!!!!".....in other words he couldn't be bothered to deal with it himself.
I know what the poster above said about putting six zero's in the sortcode box, but I cannot see how they can collect the money from the provider as they have no address to write to, and they cannot transfer via BACS?.......
If I am honest I am totally confused and don't know if I can be bothered to deal with NatWest as they seem to have no clue about anything!!
Any ideas from anyone?.......does a sortcode exist from Icesave?0 -

I would be making two withdrawls in the year. One would be the £1 to open the account, then a second to transfer the rest of the amount. After reading lots of negative stuff about Nat West and the transfer process I think I will go for the fixed rate bond. Thanks anyway though.0 -
If you read the thread linked to by littlemissmoney above, she says Nationwide don't need any notice for transfers and do them fee-free. If that's correct you can do a full transfer into the NatWest ISA straightaway if that's what you want without having wait 60 days.0

I phoned Icesave for this yesterday and they gave me the general sort code and account number for ISAs - you just then add your acc number as the reference. They gave me Acc 80469947 Sort 203253 which seemed to cheer up Natwest who'd never heard of Icesave!0 -

With the ISA bond you need to give 60 days notice or lose 60 days interest.
What she said was just transfer £1 to Nat West originally and lose the 60 interest on that £1. Then transfer the rest later on. Not possible as that is two transfers in a year. Ordinary ISA's with Nationwide do not need a notice period but the bond's do.0 -

Apologies. I have now checked the thread you and littlemissmoney refered to and it does indeed say you can transfer without penalty (seems strange of Nationwide). I might still avoid Nat West though.0 -
I've transferred my ISA from West Bromwich (5%) to Icesave (6.1%) in June. I have topped up the ISA when it was in West Bromwich to the maximum £3600, it is worth me transffering it to Natwest (7.16%)? Bear in mind I would be transffering twice in the same tax year. I currently have 18k in there.0

darude, you'd gain an extra £190.80 by transferring. On the other hand for every week your money is in transit you'd lose £21.12 or £24.78 (Icesave and Natwest rates respectively, which applies depends on whether NW start the bonus rate straightaway or wait for Icesave's cheque). Both assumes the two variable rates go up and down by the same amounts.0

runciblespoon, huge thanks for your response. I will look into this.0 -
Anyone had any paperwork about the ISA yet? I've had a letter giving me sort code and account number for the First Reserve account, which I can carefully file under B.I.N.0
