while opening mine today the guy said he expected it to close for new applications in a day or two
re the previous question - ISAs you apply to transfer after the product closes will not receive the bonus - the portion you transfer before the close gets the bonus0 -
I just rang a 'help'line number at natwest re the new isa and the person didn't seem to know anything!
I had opened the application form on my computer and I asked her where I would find the leaflets which I had to tick to say I had read - she said she didn't know what the application form looked like so couldn't help me! then she said I had to download the form and 'do it online'. After much questioning and clarification it emerged that I couldn't actually 'do it online' at all. What she meant was that I have to open the form, print it off, fill it in by hand and take it into a branch - where I will then find the leaflets which I have to read before I fill in the form!!!!!!!!!
She then said that I might find the leaflets 'on the website'. I asked for the webaddress where I would find them and she said she would go and ask someone - at which point I got disconnected!!
Do I have confidence in this bank? - a big fat NO0 -
Moved 3 separate ISA I hold with HSBC to NatWest today at the Hendon branch of NatWest. Downloaded and filled the form from the internet and took it with me to the branch. Everything went smoothly. I have never held any a/c with NatWest prior to this so had to take in usual forms of id etc.
Had to open a current a/c, this is apparently mandatory. A no-fee, no minimum monthly deposit, no interest bearing current account, but it will come with debit card and cheque book.
Very pleased with the overall process. Never transferred isas before so fingers crossed it will go through without a hitch within the estimated 30 days.
But have to say this is a fantastic offer particularly from a high street bank.0 -

I was told when I went to enquire about an ISA that I would also need to open a savings account. When I challenged this I was told that you dont. You dont need a current account either to open an ISA - I also dont have any other accounts with NatWest.
Its almost as if NatWest staff are incentivised to open accounts isnt it?0 -

On the paper ISA application form that I was made to fill out it asked for the sort code/acc number of a "Natwest current/savings account" for any deposits in excess of the annual limits to be put into.
I would therefore presume that if the branch were to do the application straight away on a computer (as opposed to with me on paper)... it would also prompt them for the same thing.0 -
Applied to open mine today with £100 transfer (the whole balance) from an available ISA. I need a few more days to get my funds marshalled within First Direct ISA and then intend to do a bulk transfer request from there but didn't want to risk just missing out on the offer should it be pulled abruptly
(That said, the branch was plastered with flyers for the offer today - as though they've been told to keep pushing it for a while yet...).....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
went to natwest pontypool this week. i turned up out of the blue with 2 transfer forms. dealt with the manager. he checked my forms, copied my id and that was that. no mention of an extra account to be opened. can't remember reading about it in the t's and c's but nevermind. asked him how long it would take and he said 30days*
(* they're busy so who knows but see how it goes. i'm not 1 of those who worry about a week or 2 interest.)
happy for the time being.0 -
Just went in to the High Street branch in Bath with my completed form, told them that I had an account with them that had gone dormant, they found it and reactivated it, checked the forms and all was done in 15 mins. I'm happy with that.
Just got to try and deposit the whole years allowance in 6 months now.

Argghhhh, I thought I'd share my (terrible) experience...
Went into my local branch with the form all filled in and my ID with me. Waited for ages in a long queue. Was then told that I had to see an "advisor" to transfer an ISA and one wasn't available until next Tuesday! The women then spent about 10 min trying to book me an appointment on the system (which she struggled to use) and printing me out a letter with my appointment time on. It would have been a lot quicker if she had just photocopied my ID and took the form from me  She also said I have to open a current account with them. I asked for a form to fill in so I could speed things up on Tuesday and was told there isn't one
So now I have to go back on Tuesday and see what happens. That's assuming the rate is still available. Plus, after my experience today I'm having second thoughts about transfering.Proud to be a MoneySaver!

As to the appointment booking taking as much time as the actual appointment, I said something similar to the cashier, but it was evident they have received training in disregarding customer appeals and he said he wasn't 'licenced' to take any application........under construction....
