    This is the one I have; slightly dearer (by about £30) but I find the larger screen makes all the difference.

    An excellent piece of kit; truly hand portable, and, more importantly - no external antenae. It's slightly slow to pick up the satellite if you have it switched off for a while (with the emphasis on slightly) but it has better reception without an antenae than my previous one (a Medion) had with an external mag mount.

    There are higher spec ones (bluetooth enabled, playable through the car stereo etc) but TBH I don't think they justify the additional price; anyway I use mine with the 'voice' muted.

    the mapping detail is excellent - the same across the series, only the hardware differs. Depending on where you are liable to use it - ie Ireland/Uk or including Europe consider buying the map upgrade at the time - much cheaper.

    The acid test is that I would buy another Nuvi 200W rather than any other model / brand.

    It has has the following extras;
    MP3 player, audio book player from Audible.com, JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, and calculator.

  • I bought the Tom Tom One about six months ago. Im a taxi driver and use it quite a bit but i wouldn't reccomend it as it constantly seems to have trouble finding satellites...

    I bought a Navman 4 months ago and its basically useless. 9 out of 10 postcodes it doesnt have in it. Very basic belfast ones yes. Outside that no chance. It cant even find my house on a main road in belfast!
  • I'm just about to buy a garmin 200w, well the missus is for me for xmas. We had the loan of a garmin 660fm from friends and were impressed by it, the 200w seems to use the same maps but has less gadgets. Amazon seems to be the cheapest, halford and currys were both £159.99 and neither would match or beat the price.

    I have a garmin 300, i'd strongly recommend it.

    Get it off amazon and save yourself some money. Amazons returns policy is excellent.
  • I have used a Nuvi 300 for nearly a year. I have found it to be great. I use it in the Lisburn area and it seems to have nearly all streets on it, with the exception of very very new developments. It is very easy to use and has some great functions. Get it from amazon as they have a rule that allows you to claim back the difference if it falls in price within 30 days of you buying it.
