Can anyone post an update on this with experience of current models. Looking for something that does ireland (n+south) and uk mainland, france etc would be a boon too. I'd want pretty detailed maps for soutern ireland and the ability for it to take updates (roads are being built at a hell of a rate in the south) - postcode search would be very nice and bluetooth for the mobile would be nice also.
Does such a machine exist ?
DI used to have a signature with links to the League Tables for good/bad shipping charges for Northern Ireland. But I have since learnt that this is against site rules - so they are no longer here! PM me if you need them0 -
hi there son got a Garmin 250 ,this seems to be the new model as its small and slim,it gives you pre loaded street maps of Europe + points of interest + all fixed speed camara's including the new camara's on the road to dublin outsite newry, and to top it of they are £199 in the shops ,but we booked 1 on line last week in currys Lisburn and got it for £169 ,saving £30,salesman couldnt beleived it when we handed the email over so try that,I looked at all sat navs and for N/I you need something with the NAVTEQ softwear ,tomtom europe is the only tomtom that gives good coverage but it was over £50 dearer before the £30 discount and was a lot more bulker0

sorry but if it do'se not have the NAVTEQ softwear then its not the best for N/I unless you pay the dearer price and get the tomtom europe ,I know people who have paid £120 and within days are looking to upgrade their maps ,so your cheap sat nav will work out a lot more than you expected to pay0

I recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 200 Satellite Navigation System from in store at Halfords for £149.99 and it works very well both in Northern Ireland and on the mainland UK. Includes fixed safety camera location, mobile safety camera hotspot locations, points of interest, garages (incl. what type of fuel they sell), restaurants, hotels, automatic re-routing, very easy to use (you can enter street name or postcode, touch screen amd speaks to you clearly)and I haven't found a road that it hasn't known yet. Well recommended. You could also buy on-line from Halfords, use a cashback website, eg. Quidco and save even more. I only bought it in-store as the better half needed it for driving from Scotland to her parents in the south of England the next morning.0

What about the Tom Tom One EU? http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-4468.aspx
It's currently reduced, you can get Quidco and triple Clubcard points online. I need one that cover NI, ROI, Mainland UK and occasionally Europe.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0 -
Hi everyone
I want to buy a satnav for my OH for Xmas, nothing too fancy or expensive, something for £150 or less. I have heard that Garmin is the best make for Ireland (north and south), and was wondering if anyone had any advice or recommendations regarding these units. Where is the best place to buy? Halfords look quite expensive compared to some of the websites I have seen eg for Nuvi 300, but I like the idea of being able to bring it straight back to a local store if something goes wrong.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated:beer:0 -
There was a TV ad tonight in England for Halfords selling a Garmin reduced to around £129. Doubt if it will be the Nuvi 300 which is expensive anywhere. Staples is a good place to look too.ac's lovechild0

This old thread might help but in electronics things change quickly!
Mate bought one recently for around £60 and it seems really good, we have used it in both NI & ROI. It was bought on the web but for that price I would take a chance on not being local!Dave0
