Thats my thoughts exactly, how can they do an offer of 100,000 monitors or whatever it was but not of already sorted out having the stock or an impending delivery to furfill the orders.

I did think it was a too good to miss offer, along with JAK it seams a bit annoying that we all had to phone that premium rate number so they could tell how well subscribe the offer had become only for them still not of ordered the goods.

Actually i was thinking the other day how good the offers are in the dailymail. I have brought it a few times since, but the time for this one to materialise has put me off sending for anything else.

Maybe someone from BG or the dailmail will be reading this.....

If BG's customers took as long to pay their bills as BG themselves are taking to come up with the goods I'm pretty sure that they would be complaining rather loudly. Is it one rule for British Gas and another for everyone else?

How about a statement from BG/Daily Mail in the Mail to indicate the expected delivery date with an apology for the delay, please? When they stated it would be delivered by courier I was expecting it that week, not months later, especially after paying out for a premium rate 0904 number so presumably they would know how many to order. How can they be so inefficient?

I fail to see your problem and your comparison is outrageous.

You not paying a bill from British Gas, for a service and goods that they have already delivered AND that you have both received and used, after the event has taken place and therefore in arrears, hardly compares to not receiving FREE goods worth £50 in a time span you deem to be acceptable.

They have NOT cashed your cheque and therefore have not taken and banked monies in advance of delivery, and there is every expectation that your FREE goods will be delivered in the near future, even if that is another 6 weeks or more, and your cheque will be cashed forthwith.

As for the "especially after paying out for a premium rate 0904 number" ...

.. my "registration" cost me a huge and unforgiveable premium of 27 PENCE !

As for all the other 'my cheque's not been cashed' "complaints", I'd have thought that there would have been an issue of concern if they HAD been cashed !!!! (Especially if weeks ago)

I'll be happy whenever mine turns up !

Really? 12 months time? 24 months time? Maybe never! That is what you are saying. Then it would be outrageous.

And if you are happy at paying for premium rate calls then fine, however that was my first (and probably my last.) In any event why did it have to be a premium number when a normal geographic number would surely have sufficed that could have been made using one's free call allowance. Clearly there wasn't a rush to need to know and if they decide they cannot supply them after all we'll all have been made mugs to have paid for that unnecessary 27p call for which they will net a staggering quarter of a million pound profit!

An official acknowledgement by postcard or even a bit of communication via the Daily Mail would go a long way to allay fears that it has not yet been sent and got lost en route. I'm sure the Mail itself would be complaining if it was reporting on another organisation not delivering on its promises.

By the way, I don't think it is really free but paid for by a government grant which is part of a recent £1 billion package which is intended to enable households to take advantage of help that could save them over £300 every year on energy bills. But ask oneself where the Government get its funding from to pay that grant? I could be wrong regarding this however. Yes I believe it was your money!
  • Hi all,

Have just phoned again to check if I'm on the system, and was told that the stock of monitors and energy savers are expected in two weeks.

    Hope this helps
