… the only reason you're getting cold-called is because you were stupid enough to allow your information to be sold on. In-fact you were too lazy to read whatever you were leaving your details on and didn't tick that little box which says they aren't allowed to sell your info. It's your own fault.
Amazing! Aren't you the clever one to know what I have and haven't done? Or are you merely trolling?

Actually, I have never given my phone number to anyone who has no good reason to have it, and when I have, I have always ticked (or not ticked, depending on the wording) the box to say that I don't want marketing calls or third parties to have my number.

Phone numbers are collected, often by computerised random diallers or from the phone book, often by companies doing "surveys" (which, I'm told, are excluded from the tighter regulations). They sell the numbers on as being "live".

It got so bad that I had to get rid of my landline, as the phone was incessantly ringing with cold callers. Now the cold callers have got hold of my mobile (which I have never given to anyone other than friends, family, school and bank), but fortunately I have a neat app that screens the callers so that they don't bother me.

I've done some cold calling, it's not nice when people are rude to you we are just trying to earn a living instead of being on the dole. How would you feel if someone spoke to your son or daughter like some people have spoken to me. "F*** off I'm not interested" before I've even opened my mouth to ask them something. I've just tried to help people make a claim for noise related hearing loss through work. A polite no thank you would suffice I'm just trying to help and do my job, I don't earn commission or bonus for signing people I get paid if people talk to me or not.

I'm glad I've been doing admin work for the last week.

In fairness to yourself the main problem is overseas callers who are not bound by UK rules.
I had the Indians on the phone again pretending to be from Microsoft telling me my computer was reporting problems. Zzzzzzzzzzz.

My kids are going to grow up thinking all Indians are scammers.

maybe now you understand how strongly a lot of people feel about people like you intruding and disturbing us in our own homes on a phone line that we pay for that is not for the benefit of cold callers, uninvited phone calls like you make are a nuisance to a lot of us.
you are not the only person making these calls and it gets beyond frustrating to be continually pestered by these unwanted calls.

People like me? I'm just trying to do my job. How would you feel if you was spoken to like it or your son or daughter?

Like I said a no thank you would suffice if you wasn't interested instead of the foul language I get. Think of all the other 100's-1000's of people I've spoken to who are able to make a claim

neither me nor my sons, daughter would do a job were it involved cold calling and upsetting bothering people.

Maybe just maybe people are rude because they sick of stopping what they are doing, going to the phone only to find yet another cold call. Once upon a time not that long ago, you rarely got cold calls now its a every day occurrence not just one either. Then you get the scam calls too.

People are fed up of the phone being misused this way.

The only way to stop it now is either stop having landline but then you still get them on your mobile then there is also fact you cant get adsl/fibre if you stop landline.

So you have no choice but to either ignore phone, go to phone and check If you have caller Id and also have to pay for caller ID on top in most cases, or get a device to screen calls like Truecall.

Why should people have to go to such lengths to screen calls? One complaint to Ofcom, sure be suffice for them to act on company. Each complaint there should be a fine say £100.

Many of us not give our numbers out to all in sundry either. For some a phone is a life line perhaps for a elderly relative who cant get out much? She might be taken it by sales calls after all many take people what they say at face value.

Those who work cold calling, yes you trying to do a job, but if you cant handle rudeness after reason I give above, maybe look for other work.

Many people want there privacy at home, after a hard days work they just want a quite life to be left alone, not have to answer phone just after little Josh or Bethany or whatever has been put to bed.

If you cant take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Don't go for a job as a traffic warden either.

You should know that most people that you call don't want that call, and have probably had 3 or 4 already that day.

You should know that what you are doing is breaking the law (see TPS). If I was breaking the law 100 times a day, or my kids were, then I would not expect people to be polite to them. If I was continually annoying people (like noise nuisance every night outside my home), then I would also not expect people to be polite to them. And it may not be you continually annoying people......I mean you as in all you cold callers.

And fortunately, the master spam list that a lot of you cold callers use with my phone number on it, my name is spelt wrong. So the conversation often goes
    "Hello is that Mr Foggritt"

Its a shame we dont have a regulator that really looks after the interests of the consumer. If they did they would stop cold calls or at very least have a minimum fine for each misuse and also stop those machine that do silent calls.

You only have to look at several sites when you enter number in google to find many complaints and its always the same companies so of which have no mechanism for you to remove you fro database or even worse flout the law, or use devices to hide there number or spoof it.

They obviously do this for a reason as even a small chance of any sale means it must be profitable for them. but they don't give two stuffs for misery they bring on the many that resent these calls.
