The only way to stop it now is either stop having landline but then you still get them on your mobile then there is also fact you cant get adsl/fibre if you stop landline.

Not strictly speaking true, I have fibre to my house and no landline, in fact, no BT at all. I use a VoIP service for phone calls and when I swapped to them I took a new number. Since that day, no more unwanted calls.

Obviously there are downsides to this rather drastic action.
    • Cost, fibre + VoIP may be more expensive than landline + ADSL, but in my case I just about break even. Your mileage may vary.
    • New number - everyone who needs to be told has to be informed, including banks. Amazon, eBay and similar companies with whom I do business. So far none of them has sold on my number.
    • Some companies baulk at there being no landline, but even Sky can be talked round.
On the plus side my internet speed went up by a factor of over 500 from 1.7 Mb on a good day to 900+Mb any time.
    Sent from my abacus.

Yes your right I was referring to BT fibre dont live in a area that has cable. I believe you cant get naked adsl/fibre from BT otherwise I think I would get rid of phone altogether.

I am a cold-caller myself. Want the best way to stop the calls? Stop being rude to the people calling you. If someone asks me (and doesn't even have to be in a nice way), to remove their number off our system, I will do it. However, if you're downright rude, swear, arrogant or shout and slam the phone down, you can bet your !!! you'll remain on the system.

Would you expect a traffic warden to stop writing you a ticket if you spoke to him like that? No. Don't do it, it won't get you anywhere. After all, the only reason you're getting cold-called is because you were stupid enough to allow your information to be sold on. In-fact you were too lazy to read whatever you were leaving your details on and didn't tick that little box which says they aren't allowed to sell your info. It's your own fault.

At the end of the day our company generates £30m a year. 70% is from cold calling, just because you aren't interested, it doesn't mean other people aren't.

    You are a troll.

Nobody in their right mind would keep phoning a number if they thought they would repeatedly get abused. If they could, they would remove it immediately from their list.

Hence you have no authority to remove anything from any list however politely asked. I've tried polite, IT DOES NOT WORK!

If you feel so offended, get an honest job where you will not be committing illegal acts, deliberately trying to scam people out of their money (for this alone you should be ashamed), or getting regularly abused.

Maybe not from BT, but I am extremely lucky to live in a village in Oxfordshire that organised their own fibre through Gigaclear who have nothing to do with BT. All they supply is naked fibre to the house and act as an ISP. If you live in a similar area they may be interested in supplying to you if 40%+ of the households will sign up.

A traffic warden well we don't have traffic wardens anymore they called parking enforcement officer or parking attendant employed by the council and not by police as was case with traffic wardens. Some argue there sole job is to raise money for the council too through parking.

Also they dont ring you up at all hours unlike cold callers. Just when you put baby to sleep or sat down with a glass of your favorite tipple or a cuddle with OH. Oh imagine it now, just thought you got somewhere with OH then ring ring. "Hi my name is Michael, Have you heard of PPI? You could save hundreds of pounds, blah blah"

Well its nice to put two fingers to BT. Especially as they do little to stop these parasites ringing you, but they have a money making scheme to put things right by selling you caller ID or do little to curtail spoof callers

I've done some cold calling, it's not nice when people are rude to you we are just trying to earn a living instead of being on the dole. How would you feel if someone spoke to your son or daughter like some people have spoken to me. "F*** off I'm not interested" before I've even opened my mouth to ask them something. I've just tried to help people make a claim for noise related hearing loss through work. A polite no thank you would suffice I'm just trying to help and do my job, I don't earn commission or bonus for signing people I get paid if people talk to me or not.

I'm glad I've been doing admin work for the last week.

If you are ignoring the TPS list you are a criminal.
If you have a full profile of the person you are calling and the product you are selling is unique to the profile, you just might be doing something useful.
I can give you an example, my mother was constantly pestered by estate agents offering to sell or remortgage her home - if they had bothered to check with the Land Registry (£3) they would have discovered she did not actually own it.
My time is worth more than minimum wage, so what you are being paid needs to be at least doubled, before you can claim not to be a parasite on the economy, even if you are selling an honest product or service to individuals who need it.

Unfortunately the only person who has cold called me and made a pitch based on my profile, and knew what he was selling, turned out to be a multi million fraudster. [Near miss there then and I have my suspicions about how he obtained my phone number and profile - which could have poisoned my relationship with the organisation involved].

My little triumphs are getting the cold caller to swear at me. Magic

I only call people between 10:30am and 5pm it must be a foreign call centre calling at the other times.

I've managed to stop them on my landline just by claiming to put cold callers on hold and then playing erotic hypnosis recordings to them.

On my mobile, I downloaded an app called Call Control which can block withheld and fake numbers and you can add other numbers to a blacklist.

Had the Indian cold call scammers again today about my computer reporting errors. Its more serious than I thought.....my computer will shut itself down in the next 24 hours.

I hope they are on commission for the number of people they scam per day......I had these two jokers on the phone for half an hour while Im watching telly.

Hopefully they flag me as a timewaster and don't call again.
