Surely the list is free? Why would any marketing company ...... want to pay for a list of people to NOT to call?
cos its the law, and UK companies have to abide by the law (when they feel like it).
List costs £2200 plus vat a year.

£2200 Plus VAT at 20% is £2640 ??? is that right??
What about the fine for not complying and how many firms have been fined I wonder?
also is there a black market copy of this list available? especially to foreign based call centres?
I'll wager if any firm has been fined which I doubt it will be less than the £2640.0 -

It's not just overseas callers now; four times in 8 days I've been asked if I'd like to try out a 'scientifically medically approved mattress' that apparently has the properties to heal :mad:Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

OK this link goes to the ICO ( I've never heard of them) who it seems have the power to fine companies that breach the regulations on this problem; quote:::
Statement: 2 July 2012
The ICO now has the power to issue a monetary penalty for serious breaches of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. The powers allow us to issue the worst offenders with a monetary penalty of up to £500,000. The ICO currently has a team dedicated to enforcing these Regulations and is actively pursuing specific cases.
I've got to ask?
How many companies ... (if they can find them) have they fined?
and how much did they fine them?:think:0 -
We are getting lots of international calls.
We have caller id so we dont answer them, but they are annoying.
BT have told me they cannot block all incoming international calls on our line. This I find ridiculous, surely its not rocket science to do that?
Do any other telephone providers allow you to block all incoming international calls?
TIA,
Zebs
Sky have anonymous caller reject where anyone where the number is with-held (most international calls come under this too as the system can't "see" the number) don't get through-although your MIL might be a bit miffed to hear they can't get through either without removing number with-heldI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Look in this forum post 9 firms in 5 years and no fines.
Classic victim blaming, they try to shift the blame on to the general public- it's our fault if we don't complain enough.
The complaints process is long and tedious (I've been through it a couple of times) and as the info shows, pointless.

Having spoken to B.T. they say there is nothing they can do, as the calls are from out of the country [international, out of area, number unavailable].
Their solution was, if you have caller display, just ignore it, or pay for one of these call blockers. :mad:0
