Ways to stop overseas sales calls discussion

It may sound dubious but look at it like this:
- Many of the sales calls, offers to fix your computer scams etc. are originating from foreign calls where TPS supposed barring has no legal standing.
- Now anyone that signs to TPS has obviously experienced being on some form of contact list compiled from various sources but by signing to TPS who give out this new list of all such customers for sellers NOT to call they actually have a more complete free list that can be used by foreign based call centres or companies.
- These foreign based call centres scammers cannot be sanctioned even if TPS & offcom had any power. (which in reality they don't).
- TPS is in fact quite a good complete and untraceable sucker list where the original various lists have combined together into one.
But the list isn't free - companies have to pay for it.
And I can't see why any rational company would pay for a list of people who are resistant to marketing calls (ie specifically NOT suckers) with the express intention of calling them. They are there to make money, not to annoy people. They might not be prepared to do much to avoid doing that, but they are not going to go out of their way to do it0 -

If you are being chased over a legal matter what would your advice be? Bury your head in the sand....
Just because you have a different opinion doesn't mean you can bully forum members, this forum is not here for you to boss people about...

The opinion of the court would have to take into account the fact that the supposed recipient may not have heard it (eg. playing music), may have been out, may have had the phone volume turned down, may have been in the bath or loo, may have been in the back garden, may have a phobia of phones, may be sick of the junk calls, and all other possibilities.
And anyway, if something was as important as all that, it would be delivered in writing and requiring a signature.0 -
Had a call again this evening from five star call centre services on an 0203 number (bt reckon it is actually emanating from India and the phone number is just a divert) . Told them to go away and was told to !!!! off!!! I hung up, they didn't and every time I checked the line they shouted !!!! off at me!! Eventually pulled the plug on them and now had ten calls from them this evening, obviously did not answer.
What really hacks me off is bt do not want to know. They are my line provider and to my mind bt should be dealing with this as part of the service i pay a not inconsiderable amount of money to them for!0 -

There is no way that story is remotely true. A call centre will not keep themselves on the line waiting for the off chance that you would pick up the phone, just so they could swear at you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have a business line which gets junk phone calls. I turn tne tables on them and start 'selling' them my service.they get very confused. When I told the woman she sounded as if she was in Asia and that on top of my £700 daily fee I would require business class flights with BA at £3,000 she almost exploded and just kept apologising.
They usually start with is this a good time to talk to which I rep,y certainly what service are you interested in and launch into my sales pitchJune challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -

Surely the list is free? Why would any marketing company particularly a foreign based one want to pay for a list of people to NOT to call? Especially when it's done as a favour to not cold call people that don't want calls.
What about BT btw they seem to completely ignore this.0 -
