She just doesn't want me to give her anything for Christmas, I see all these things as a way to become more involved in his family, I think so does she and that's exactly why girlfriends aren't allowed to be involved.

His mother sounds like abit of a meanie! Maybe she's jealous of you taking her son away and this is how she's counteracting it?

I don't think she's mean just distant. She's the same with the brothers GF and she's been around 3 years. She's told him to get his !!! in gear and not mess things up with me so she cant be that anti-me. It's just odd.

hmm, maybe they're just abit hard up on money but don't want to let on? Who knows, I suppose some people are just like that!
  • Ok big lurker here but just had to post...

I wonder if his Mum is worried about getting to close to you incase things dont work out, I think you should have a chat with her and ask her if you have done something to offend her (just to open up the conversation) then explain to her exactly how much you love her son.

I think you should consider a new job....writting,,,i wish i had your way with words.

Just my impression........but i undersatnd why the big rush but i really think you are putting too much pressure on yourself (and perhaps him)

Hi Tesco Points Addict - I actually wrote most of a book once, then realised I didn't know what to do if I finished it so paniced and left it alone!

It's not really big rush, but I don't want to spend 2 years to find out this has no future, I find long distance extremely painful and difficult and don't want to put myself through it until I'm 25/6 and my blood pressure is at the point where I'm probably not going to have kids by the time I've met someone else who I feel anything for, let alone something like this. I've never understood how 'going slow' can be a good thing, you either know or you don't. If you don't, move on, if you do, get on with it!

On the way to work I kind of told my dad I could save £20,000 by the end of next year. He might have to look into selling the house they were going to do up for me, it needs £20,000 of work doing to it. So I kind of begged him to hang on as long as possible to see what I can raise.

Oh god, I only earn £6,240.00 a year. Still, I'll give it a whirl! Not a chance but I'll give it my best (and give up around Jan 10th)

I think TPA is right, try and have a word with his mum next time you're over? Fingers crossed that you two sort it out! You seem perfect for each other and it would be terrible to waste it over distance.

To be honest I think you could certainly make £300-£400 a month from other sources and offers without reaching the crazy levels I'm at where my real life has vanished! I'm going for 1000 STP tracks in Jan, so that's £80, then my dooyoo target should be another £50 ish per month, bit more counting rates, ebay or amazon any clutter. If you haven't used it in a year, you don't need it unless it is SERIOUSLY sentimental. Do the free daily scratchies, it's slow but takes seconds. I have nearly £2 in there since Sunday.

Gargh late for work, gotta run!

  • Good luck with that Cinny! I'm very much in the mood to see how much I can save in 2009 now that I'm financially stable (bank fraud aside!) - had a look on the savings board for a challenge but it's not as nice as here on DFW! I feel at home here! But also hoping that 2009 will see me and OH moving in together so that'll obviously make saving harder... Might do some sums before the NY...

Dinah - how are you feeling this morning petaldust? I guess you'll have spoken to OH last night?

    secondeded.

My esaver thing went down the pan, my passport has expired so I can't send a copy of that in, they won't accept my drivers license because it's a learners. So I'll be heading to the bank in the new year to sort it out face to face.

I'm going to hit all my money sites hard, like STP, DooYoo ect. Rather be doing that then sat around all afternoon doing nothing much at all. I don't really have much to sell on ebay, bar a pair of boots. everything I have in my room i use bar 2 box sets of books my great grandma bought me and they're going no where fast. I suppose the harder I look the more stuff I'll find! Hoping to get back to my crafty self too and make some things to sell on etsy.

Have you tried selling anything on etsy Cinny? I want to know if it actually sells or if it's like greenmetropolis - good idea but only populated by sellers.

Didn't speak to OH any further really about it Tete, we spoke a lot yesterday morning, before I wrote on here, which triggered my panic! I guess I'm going to give it some time (talking 6-9 months here, not 3 years!) to see which direction he goes in on his own, it's hard as I am desperate to have him here as I miss him like crazy and there are still the basic jobs here (pub, restaurant, shop, bit of call centre etc) so he could be saving a bit of money towards the course, and personally I think if his dad saw him trying and being independant he might fund the course here anyway, as at the moment all he sees is someone content to do nothing, and possibly he sees the further study as a way of postponing having to do anything?

As for liking DFW better Tete - me too. I've signed up to the 'clear 20k in 2009' challenge on here, few people went for the full 20k but I like a real challenge! I obviously have no where near enough debt left to clear, so I'm counting it as a pre-emptive clearance of debt - any I save now will mean less mortgage eventually saving me thousands!
