The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

Thanks Dex!! Getting excited already
Tete - no wonder indeed!! :rotfl: I'm always the one who is always in the wrong clothes for the weather! starting to eye my wardrobe up for packing already, i'm terrible.0 -
Glad you got the fraudsters sorted Tete, I had someone break into my paypal account earlier in the year, really worrying when it happens but kinda exciting after!
OH leaves tomorrow, I'm being all mopey and alternating between crying and stropping! Went out today and did a mystery shop for a supermarket's at home store, ended up getting a pair of flat brown leather boots as they were only £33 and I've been looking for a pair for ages I can wear big socks under to safely go on site in winter when I don't need to wear the steel soled ones! But I figure the £11 fee makes them only £22 and that's a complete bargain!
Done a bit of STP this weekend too, and 2 more Dooyoo reviews, and OH and I are trying to finish off the ebay tonight ready for the next free listings day. Anything that keeps me busy is good as it stops me thinking about coming home tomorrow and him not being there.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hi Dinah (and the ladies!)
I've been following your diary for the last few weeks, just wanted to comment on your fantastic achievement on shedding all that debt so quickly. MEGA impressive and a little reminder that there's no mountain too high.
I've got a massive student loan debt, but I'm not going to clear it yet. I have just given up my job to try to change fields - I refused a new contract in June when the horrible recession was just a 'mild slowdown(!)' and before any of the banks collapsed. Eeek!
When I was studying for my MA I worked to pay for everything, so I can get by on £650pm and my nest egg will pay my rent for a year. However I really wanted to keep it for a house deposit. I have got some work this week, and then hopefully I will get some more in Jan. Still, it's very exciting! Hopefully 2009 will be great for you all

Thanks for posting Lara. I'm still sitting on about 8k of student loan, but I'm not over paying this, just letting it trickle out of my salary as I figure I need the money for other things more!
Found out over the weekend that my engine is showing significant signs of wear on my car, so going to need to get a new one after Christmas. I'm really wanting to get in a bulk load of used books to make some £s for this, but mum says if any more books come into the house she's leaving it! Going to try to work on her the next few days. There isn't quite enough room in my shed, but I've put my nearly new fold up z-bed on the work intranet today, fingers crossed someone wants that for Christmas and that will free up loads of space for books and books = new car.
Spoke to my grandad this weekend and he still won't let me overpay the family loan to him, so my DFD might be nearly a year away simply because I can't overpay! However I think it will be a case of pay off all credit cards and ovredrafts, get new car, all the time continuing the £200 a month to grandad and putting anything over into a savings account for a house deposit. However the new car may put a bit of a spanner in the works for the 20k house deposit by 1st Jan 2010.
Things seem to be looking up for OH career wise, and we might be down to 2 1/2 years from now until he has finished the uni thing and can work here, rather than the terrifying 3 1/2 years that was getting me so worked up.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Well done to whatever it was for your OH that's taken a year off your move in together date
Glad you're feeling better about it.
Try not to be too upset about your OH not being there when you get home, focus on debt busting instead :grouphug: (i'm becoming a regular dodgy hug giver, I need to get a nicer looking one!)
I've been quite bad this morning, I got some new shoes and bought my lunch at work. (some nice warming soup!) I've also started making excuses for buying clothes. I think they're quite good to be honest.
Going out with OH his best friend and his girlfriend the week before christmas - new skirt and top.
Going to see OH's family the weekend before christmas - new top.
I know I shouldn't but I fancy some retail therapy (therapy for what i'm not too sure)0 -
I'm feeling bad about the money this month, only have £400 left until payday and I need at least 2 more tanks of petrol out of that (£110) and get pressies for OH Christmas as well as a few little bits for others.
He just found he can start a course in feb rather than waiting a till after he'd done the other courses which is fantabulous. Year off when we can move in together - probably not - I'm still not moving in with him unless I'm married!
Done 2 more Dooyoos and a bit of onepoll this morning, going to try to do one more dooyoo today, and then when I get back tonight I have another mobile to send to Mazuma, and I need to start going through all the ebay listings OH roughly did to make them into real usable listings. Also answer a load of ebay questions that I have, and do a bit more STP as I'm nearly at another £5 payout (about 20 tracks away, not bad really). Keeping busy is the way to go. That and wine.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

afternoon ladies! been a while since i posted on here (have been lurking tho!) thats great news about OH Dinah!
Is OH back over soon?0 -
No. Well, not my terms of soon, for Dex I bet she'd be jumping for joy if her OH was back so soon. 15 days. Then we'll get 12 full days together only 1 of which I have to work!
Can anyone think of a convincing arguement to get mum to let me buy in more books in bulk? She doesn't seem to believe me that they'll go in my shed not her house! I'm going to take her to the shed tonight I think, show her how much space is in there!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Good going on the course. Seems like it's good luck all around for OHs, just got a text from my mister saying they're wanting to train him for store manager. Hoping it all goes well for your OH! Mince pies all round!
I need to get back on STP, I ditched my plans for it on saturday in favor of watching christmas tv *slaps wrist* on the bright side I've cashed in my pigsback points for a £10 topshop voucher so that skirt I've got my eye on will be classed as a steal in my books.
I'm sure you'll find a way to get by on the £400, if your ever get stuck on anything I'll try my best to throw ideas and happy comments your way.0 -
i'm sure he'll be back before you know it!
I think you've got a plan - just show her the space and make it clear that's where they'll go and when they do come make a point of showing her that you're putting them in your shed. If they're for reselling just say its a good temorary investment0
