The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

Hi Lemon Tree, nice to hear from you.
A whole year? I think I'd be going crazy. We originally said about a year till one of us moves but it just seems that everytime one of us has to go back we're both completely distraught and it accomplishes nothing. All the time he's over there we're constantly texting and about 3 hours a day on the phone, my poor brain must be getting frizzled!
Next month will feel great for you, I keep setting myself little milestones. Getting it under 10k/11k,12k etc, or clearing a certain card or debt, and it really keeps me going. I usually only have a glass of wine on a Friday night, but it's a little extra treat when I cleared my CC1 earlier in the week. Just realised how sad that makes me sound! I'm not 103 honest!
I'm a stubborn mule sometimes, and I decide how I want things in my head then just dig my feet in even when faced with a perfectly rational counter arguement. OH knows I wouldn't get married before I'm debt free, as it seems unfair to him, and I want to be going into my marriage on an even keel since we both believe in joint finances in a marriage and he has never had any debt and in fact has decent savings. It also feels like my debt is from my old life before I met him, and I want a clean slate when I'm married for 'the rest of my life', if that makes the smallest bit of sense?Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hi there
Just been reading your thread and wanted to say 'well done you'.
You have done so well so far and I can fully understand your not wanting to take this debt from your old life into your new life. I feel the same.
Keep up the good work and enjoy the next few days

Well I've spent the evening so far getting myself sorted for OH's arrival tomorrow. So now I'm all clean polished and smell like coconuts!
Sold another book today, and gave the breadmaker a wipe down to go to it's new home tomorrow. Can see me being too excited to sleep tonight, so hopefully will get a few things listed on turbo lister for the fee free day on saturday, but I have to prioritise getting the last few car insurance quotes and ordering it. Am going to pay for the full year at once as it's cheaper, and I have it in my account due to the cheques off ex's mother, but does mean I can't shift it onto CC2. Will increase my direct debit to this card by £40 a month to compensate but I like it when big lump sums come off!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oops cross post! Thanks Pilchard, I'm sure the next few days will be great. Have my pizza express voucher printed (sneaky late night printing at work since I don't have one!) and OH is looking for somewhere round here we can go riding as we have been meaning to go together for ages and never gotten around to it. He's a right sweetie, never lets me pay for anything, no matter how much I protest. Last time he was over he managed to pay for a meal while I thought he had popped to the loo, just so I couldn't pay for it myself!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Slow day today as OH came over, and I've been too ensconsed for moneymaking efforts. Went out for dinner tonight with my parents, and OH stealthily paid the bill at some point, which scored points with them! Received my £10 for the breadmachine, so just transfered that out of my current account into the ISA. Also received the direct debit refund from Virgin already, amazed and suprised so that's gone into the ISA too.
Sorted out the car insurance too. OH decided he wanted to be on the policy, so had to go with another insurer as the one I was going to go with wouldn't cover him, but he has said he will paid the difference.
Hopefully will manage to list some more items over the weekendDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
