He's told me to make him a to do list as he hates being bored, so he's going to list all those awful comics that have been making me miserable. Went out to my stuff shed last night, could only find 2 boxes, so either they're buried under more stuff or I don't have anywhere near as many as I thought. There are also some more books, and dvds and games he's going to be an angel and crack on with for me.

:A What an angel!! How lucky are you!!

Not that i am jealous :rotfl:

keep up the good work and you'll be debtfree before you know it!

He helps little old dears across the road and has a sexy Irish accent too... I think I need find a way to lock him in my house so he can't escape before he realises he can do better! :rotfl:

He spent ages last night doing the polls on Toluna for me, and then the stupid site reset and lost all he'd done!

Well went and asked the bank my ISA question, was happy with the answer so will be opening it this evening. The lady who helped me was extremely nice and helpful, maybe chatted away to her a bit more than I should have about money saving and debt clearing. She was very impressed mind when I told her I had paid off over 3k in a month yet still went to ireland at least once a month!

But anyway, must stop rambling, I mentioned a £37.06 charge virgin media took from my account after I had asked them to cancel the direct debit and she said they should be able to reclaim it (after the stroppy girl on the phone said it wasn't their problem) so they have initiated a refund form thingy with Virgin so might get that back too! :D Swear if I hadn't been so chatty to her she wouldn't have gone as far out of her way to help me, which just goes to prove my ethos that it pays to be nice ;).

I have a £10 amazon voucher from trustedplaces in my inbox for a few weeks, I am very tempted to put it towards some books on kiln glasswork. Have wanted to try it for ages as traditionally I have stuck to more traditional media mainly canvas and gouache, and I used to make a few pennies selling my paintings at uni. Problem is all the books are more than that unless they are from the marketplace, and the voucher doesn't cover those. Don't know whether to treat myself to £30 to spend (£20 from current account, £10 voucher) and get a few books to learn more. It's a bit of a gamble really. Some of me thinks I just ought to throw 100% of my money at paying off the debts, but another part of me thinks that this would be some pretty unusual work that might sell well, and I'd certainly enjoy doing, and maybe would help me get out of debt quicker if I tried selling on etsy or ebay? Answers on a postcard please.....

Exactly, I know I'm certainly more inclined to help people out who are nice to me rather than barking orders, well done you :T

  • Hi all,

I'm new to the forum but reading your messages is making me feel like I want to sort out my debt instead of just talking about it! Like Dinah93 I am also waiting for my partner to move in (hopefully after xmas) but we both need to make inroads into lots of debt! Its a great incentive. I am going to put together an soa and see if I can get some advice from you guys!

Your thread has been incredibly inspirational. SHall be keeping an eye on it!

In terms of the books - I'd say get them! Look at it like a 'treat' for yourself after the way that you've thrown yourself into becoming debt-free...why not? Plus its bound to generate further income..so why not? I would..

I think you're doing extremeley well; and you should be very proud. Well Done :j

Hi Capricorn great to hear from you. It was really scary for me at first and I lacked the motivation, but now the ball is rolling I'm really excited by it, and when it comes to overspending I just don't do it anymore, because I get a bigger thrill out of seeing my balance come down £5 than getting a magazine or dvd or something. I'm always looking for ways to save money, to the extent my nickname at work is now 'The Money Guru'! It's kind of hilarious but awesome all at once!

Came home and found I have sold another book, only £2.97 but hey it all counts. Also have a £24.01 amazon payment in my bank so that's gone into the saver account until my ISA forms itself in 3 days time. Now the equally exciting part of taking it off the signiture...

Thanks Bartgirl. I am very tempted by the books, and it's nice to have a second DF voice telling me I'm not mad and damned to the grey and miserable depths of debtdom hell for it (I imagine it has to be grey and miserable as a skint hell couldn't afford to waste all that money making it toasty :rotfl:). One of the books is on making your own kiln, OH being bored and nice and handy I think I could set him on it as a project, kills two birds with one stone, I get a kiln he gets something to occupy him while we cross our fingers that some of these companies he wrote to over her offer him an interview. Probably best not to make a kiln while crossing your fingers though.... that's how you loose eyebrows :D.
