Morning! Happy Birthday Lara!
Cinny, since you're floating around on the South Yorkshire border we'll have to do a meet at Meadowhall some time, not very MSE though as I'd have to go shopping...
Meeting with the HA went OK, still clear as mud but not a complete waste of time! They haven't finalised all the people moving in but there is quite a mix of folk by the sounds of it, from 30-80. Apparently they'll start moving in gradually from mid-May. What is confusing us is that the HA has bought the freehold so they're in charge of the maintenance, we haven't been sent any info to confirm whether our flats are part of the HA's freehold or is the builder has held onto it for our flats. If he has it isn't really on because we'll be paying more than the other tenants for maintenance fees but the HA will actually be looking after the property as I can't see them not hoovering the little patch of carpet outside our door or not mowing the little bit of grass in front of our patio doors because the builder has to do that bit! We're going back on the 6th May to speak to someone about the possibility of them buying our flats so we just have to wait and see what happens.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Good morning!
Hey Cinny, I'm visiting my best friend from N. Ireland in Sheffield. She moved over with her husband in September to do some more study at uni. She absolutely *loves* it there - I'm not sure she'll come home at all! I'm looking forward to it, as I've never been to Sheffield - just driven through it on the bus, so it should be really nice.
Sounds good from the HA Birdie, it will be quite good to have a nice mix of people, and the HA should look after the place well.
Ooo lunch from Marks and Spencers today.
Have a great day x:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
We sent them samples of our tea strainers last year to try out but they didn't like them (boo).
Lara, what on earth is it that you do?! And Happy Bidet!!! 27 isn't too bad. I'm getting used to it now. I think we can still be classed as mid-20s til we're 28Bangladeshi meal sounds v interesting! I guess it's like Indian? Or am I being narrow minded there?!
I saw something in the Tips email about NI students, made me think of you but not sure if you count as a 'student' student - might be worth a look?
Birdie, sounds like you'll be getting a good mix of people so that's a relief. Will you sell to the HA if they offer?
NIM is completely right re the difference between men and blokes! :T Haven't heard much from Dinah lately, hope it's not cos she's stuck to the loo
Ugh, I'm trying to book advance Blur tickets as I'm an O2 customer but when I click through from the O2 site it says no tickets currently available (though when I try all the other venues they're fine!)and the general sale tickets from Firday are only available from the Box Office in Newcastle
Doesn't look like it's going to happen

And just as I posted the above I have a text from a friend to say he's got tickets for the Wolverhampton gig, and the Newcastle link disappears from the website!! Boohoo!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Urgh, nightmare Tete! Keep trying, I hope you manage to get tickets somehow!
I think we will sell to the HA if they can give us the right money for it, but if it means that we're much worse off I don't think we will. I just don't know what to do really!
Last night after the meeting OH and I went for dinenr with our 'free' £60 from Halifax, we went to The Restaurant in Harrogate (where I want our wedding breakfast) which was lovely, OH is sold so it looks like I'm going to be winning this one! Woohoo! We also went to see 17 Again at the cinema, OH wasn't impressed as he was the only man with 16 women (he counted!)... and he summed them all up in 3 words- unlucky in love! I'm afraid he was probably right, I couldn't help but laugh even though it was mean!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Birdie you should have said you were thinking of booking The Restaurant for your wedding - you might have got a few freebies, like Tyrone and Molly on Corrie! I think you're in a really difficult situation with the HA, you may be best off selling now even at a loss because you just don't know what the flats will be like (ie, what sort of people will be living there) in a few years' time... so it may be harder to sell then. I don't mean to besmirch council residents I know the vast majority are lovely, but it's the minority who spoil it for everyone.
Well after much rigmarall (sp?) I have managed to book tickets! £77 for two all in, not very MSE I'm afraid. How annoying is the Verified by Visa thing? I can never remember my password for my different cards so always have to go through the forms to reset it and all the time Ticketmaster's little clock was ticking in the corner, very stressful indeed. Travelodge rooms are available that night for £32 so might see if OH fancies making a night of it (I'd wait for the £9 sale tomorrow but the dates don't match)
Good luck with the dissertation Flower, bet you can see the light at the end of the tunnel now! Keep going, not long now!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Great news that you managed to get the tickets booked tete! Forgot about the £9 sale for travelodge, OH wants to go and see his parents soon, but i hate staying there as they dont have a spare room only a sofa bed (which is very uncomfortable!!), so might see if i can get us a couple of nights as there is one only a mile away from their house.
Yes beginning to see the light, the last couple of weeks have been the most stressful, but this time next week it will all be over! Treating myself to a half hour lunch break later so will come and have another chat then!!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0
