Once you've burnt once you'll be fine going away again NIM! You've just primed your skin in Egypt, the next holiday you'll tan like a Greek god!Unless you're like me and you'll just be pink and freckly by the end of a summer spent in the sunshine. My idea of tanning is to go a 'normal' person's colour! OH's the same so we're rubbish together, our kids will probably be albinos!

Did I say you had to come with me?! I'm quite happy to go alone! Not entirely certain how much sun you get in New York in November/December time, but clearly it's loads! 2 weeks a year is not enough holiday for me, I need regular top ups to keep the crying under my desk and rocking and mumbling at bay. Thin line between hating your job you're at 3 hours a day and hating your job you are at 8 hours a day + an hours commute each way, and I've crossed it and I'm rocking!

Never done all inclusive, but it's simply that it's £70 extra for two weeks food that makes me want to on my 'extra' holiday. It cost us the bones of £700 for the two weeks in Egypt, and that was only eating off the cheap half off the menu. We adore eating out, but when the eating out comes to the cost for a whole other holiday, and you have to fight taxi drivers to get there, it kind of looses its sheen.

There's a couple of women at work who only ever go all inclusive and after looking at the specs for the hotel we want to go to (BTW, just found it for £550 each instead of £700+! Whoop!) I understand why. We spent a fortune on food during last year's holiday, even though we only had cereal for breakfast to keep costs down and shared pizzas and stuff at lunch. I like the idea of being able to eat and drink as much as you like and not worrying about how much it is costing you! OH will destroy the buffet, it's like he gets taken over by some sort of food monster, it kills me that he stays skinny despite that monster! I'll be lucky if I come back less than half a stone heavier! I always come home with holiday belly!

Your OH sounds like my lil brother Birdie, and I use little purely from an age stand point. He's 6 foot 3 and weighs about 10 stone and he eats like a dozen horses. D is aftaid of his knees :)

I'm the opposite way, always come back a lot lighter. If I don't really like something, I don't eat it, and since most of these hotels view fresh fruit and veg like a strange and confusing instrument of the devil best avoided, i don't tend to eat much at all! However we spent over £150 on just drinks in Egypt (can't imagine how much more it would have been if we drank alcohol!) so all inclusive is worth it almost just for that.

Firstly knees are not supposed to be the widest point between hip and toe. Secondly I swear they track me as I move around the room.

His knees are not sentient separate from him and they do not track you

I think Dinah is justified in her fear of your Bro's knees by the sounds of it! You just don't get it because they are 'normal' to you! OH hates knees so he's really struggling with people playing with his all the time and goes white every time he thinks about the operation! Last year we stayed in a fairly exclusive place in Turkey (only because you had to drive over a mountain to get to it and not many people were stupid enough to do that! It was actually rubbish and boring!) and the drinks there were crazy expensive, we never got drunk because we couldn't afford to!

I thought all inclusive generally included drinks?
