Oh no, I would hate to not be able to just take a long weekend here and there, and having to take all your holidays when they're most expensive and eveywhere will be packed with kids! And plus I don't really like kids so I wouldn't want to be a teacher for that reason either!!
Sorry, morning! Been reading but not posting. I didn't swim last night in the end, went to Tesco and Asda looking for easter eggs, no £3.50 in our Asda, must be sold out, and by the time I'd done that it was 6pm and it was the time factor that stopped me. Going tonight though and am off on Thurs so will go in the morning - hopefully before all the splashy kids get up!
To be honest I like having days off when no-one else is, so you don't feel obliged to do anything and can just veg out - I don't get to do a lot of that really.Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I love days like that Tete! I had two last year. I think you're right about teaching, but I still think working at a Primary School would be fun. My mum works as a Dinner Lady and comes home with the weirdest stories. Kids are fantastic in small doses, but of course when we all have kids they'll be the best thing since blue tac!
Shame about the easter eggs Tete, I'll still pop into mine on the way home. See if they have any. Been given the rest of my pay by Petty Cash, so hidden it in my purse for the hairdressers tomorrow, last time I went it was £8.50 so I should be okay!0 -
My friend teaches year 1, she always has funny stories about the kids but I have to admit she sometimes does go on. And on! I'm not really that interested in other people's children, especially if I've not met them so I just tune out. Last week I met up with her and her teacher friends were there and they were just talking about kids the whole time- yawn! By the sounds of it that's all she has in her life, she leaves before 7am for work and gets home after 6 when does prep for the following day and goes to bed, exciting!
I'd love a veg out day, I can't remember the last time I just got to be on my own doing my own thing. When I was living at home there was usually at least one parent around (Mum's part time and Dad works from home) to entertain and feed and OH is always at home now, even when he goes back to work he'll be at home until 1pm. I may have to book myself into a hotel to be on my own!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. When I work mornings I have 30 minutes in the afternoon, everyone is out at work and my mum is walking the dogs and the house is mine! I grasp onto that 30 minutes for all it's worth! Must be so frustrating to think you don't have 2 seconds to yourself.
My mum just has the kids for an hour so the stories aren't too much!
I'm being attacked at home! (nothing major, don't call the NSPCC) Everyone's telling me to spend money and stop saving. It's annoying as they're all coming out with the same things so I'm 100% they've been talking about me when I'm not there. I really don't get their problem! Still, I can't wait till mum picks me up 'You know how you said I shouldn't come on MSE well..' *enter free Coraline tickets* Ha! Pretty childish of me though

Families are odd! I'm sure my mum would have been over the moon if I'd have been saving at 18 instead of boozing and shopping! It sounds like you do a fair bit of shopping though
and the money you're saving isn't going anywhere! Good work on the Coraline tickets! I saw Gran Torino at the weekend - it was amazing, but I'm in the mood for something a bit less grown up - 3D Robots vs Monsters sounds perfect :T
I have the opposite problem being at home all the time at the moment, I talk to my cat a lot... The thing is when I'm home I'm always on the internet looking for jobs or advice (and MSE) and doing boring chores so I don't feel like it's time to myself. I think I might try to give myself a half day off every week to read or watch a film or go for a walk - would probably do me good.
I did pick up my bike though (it's been in my mum's garage for about 10 years) and went for a ride along the seafront yesterday. Forgot it was Easter hols though and kids everywhere! Need a bell or, failing that, a horn!LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Jeez, you can't win Cinny! I think they should be proud of you for saving money and learning at such a young age the trick of saving up for things instead of getting into the buy-now-pay-later culture that has got the country into the mess it is in now! As long as you're not turning into a total hermit saying that you'd rather save your money than do anything I don't think there's a problem. You're going on holiday, you buy yourself clothes... where's the problem? And you should really brag about those free tickets!

My main bug is, it's been my mum and sister who have been doing the talking. And when they get together they can get pretty nasty regardless of who they're talking about, I'd hate to hear what was fully said! They're way too sarcastic and witty. I'll just focus on one day having a beautiful house, everything bought and paid for with my own money. Or bought on credit with discount and cash back and paid back quickly!
I do do alot of shopping too, that's what gets me! Last week me and OH went out for a meal and to the cinema twice, to the shopping centre a few times. I just know where I need to spend and where I don't, and most importantly what I can get free! Just getting sick of my sister saying 'why don't you just buy it, you have the money in savings' 'yes, savings' eugh. Family!
Thanks you two though, I will show off the tickets best I can!
Poddle - Monsters vs Aliens will be perfect in that case! Don't forget to take the 3D glasses off before you leave the cinema though, I've erm.. heard it happens.. not to me though, of course

Lol, I can't even get the name of the film right - I'm a prime candidate for leaving the cinema with the glasses on! Once I went bowling with my dad and brother and we walked out into the town centre with our bowling shoes on...LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
I didn't even notice the film title was wrong! To be fair the glasses are pretty stylin' (OHs words) so it might not be as bad as walking out in your bowling shoes!0

I think your sister's bugbear is that you shop in Primark, maybe if you bought Chanel bags and Gucci sunglasses she'd leave you alone! Just keep up what you're doing, you want to be as self sufficient as possible and when it comes to getting your own place you'll be laughing!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary.
