LOL at the bowling shoes Poddle! Make sure you take some nice time off to relax as well as all that stressful job-hunting and chores. Get some good books from the library and do some nice afternoon reading or something, or watch some good films.

Cinny that's some funny role reversal there from your Mum and Sis. Well you know we are all well impressed by your saving here. I am sure it won't be long until you get yourself a lovely house. I'll be 30 I think when we buy a place and you'll probably be 20! Super skills. At uni I spent loads because my friends all were, and I really regret it now, as I have got £14k student loan debt. Anyway you just bought your lovely Pashley Darcy last week?! Sending everyone some virtual cupcakes.

On the family note neither my Dad nor my sister have called / texted me to congratulate us on our engagement. Weird, OH thinks it was because he didn't ask Dad's permission. Hopefully not, as I have lived away from home for 9 years now!

That is weird Lara. My Dad was a bit funny about us getting engaged because OH hadn't managed to get him alone to ask permission, I think he's still sulking about it but at the end of the day he'll have to get his head around it- I don't think he wants to lose his 'little girl', maybe your Dad's just in a bit of shock?!

Lara I don't even count my Student Loan as debt! If I did I've have over £20k, but as Martin says, they're such low repayments and the interest is so low, and if you haven't paid it off by the time you're 65 they write it off anyway so there's no point breaking your neck to try and repay it early :D That is strange about your Dad and Sis, maybe they feel a bit removed from it (you're from NI but living in London am I right?) Anyway, have you got your ring yet??

Maybe you're right Tete and Birdie, about the feeling removed thing? It sucks living far away from family.

Paul had already bought the ring and gave it to me when we were in Paris. It's absolutely gorgeous, 5 diamonds going horizontally across a white gold band with tiny white gold ribs between them. OH is a designer so I thought he would choose something nice. I never wear jewellery so I was glad he chose something simple (although obviously I wouldn't have said no to a diamond the size of a marble LOL). It's a bit big so I am wearing it on the wrong finger. Hopefully get it resized on Friday if I get all my work done on time!

    Thanks, ladies x

Oh wow, I didn't think anyone did that anymore, I'm pleased you like it! I think OH has quite good taste but I'd still want to choose my own I think. Have you actually spoken to your family since, or just email/text?

Oooh, your ring sounds fabulous Lara! That sounds like what I wanted, not quite sure how I ended up getting my ring! Not that I don't love my ring!

Well I went shopping - didn't give myself any limits on what I wanted, or what I'd spend and I spent a grand total of - drum roll please! - £20:rolleyes:

Just got back to find a tag still left on from one shop so it looks like the only day I'm seeing OH this week will have to be spent going back to the shopping center. I'll tempt him with £10 petrol money and promises of tea. Unless I can figure out how to remove it myself! Stoopid Ladbrokes have put him down to work friday, saturday and sunday. Just thinking, he'll pay off his debts and one day, we can move in together and it'll of been worth it!.....right?!

Lara - I think Tete and Birdie are right, they're still likely to be getting their heads around it. Living so far away I bet they want to be with you to celebrate. In the mean time, you have us to talk pretty rings and weddings with. And that ring your OH picked sounds perfect!!

    Hi everyone

haven't been on here for ages so had a quick skim - congratulations Lara
Well I've been running around sorting out alternative job prospects cos I really hate my job and, although there's nothing definate there are several fires in the iron as they say. Also I sent a letter to Northern Rock about being mis-sold a PPI and after a form filling session they replied that they didn't agree that I'd been mis-sold the PPI ....but they didn't want to get into a dispute with me so were settling :T. I'm just waiting for the £667 to reach my bank and my payments will be £25 cheaper AND it takes off about £1500 on what they reckoned I owed!!!!!

    Hope everyone's ok?
    Have a good evening xx

Briliant news Pilchard!!! :D I don't see how they can say they don't agree but are settling anyway, surely the fact that they're settling is admitting their guilt? How much is Martin and his reclaiming responsible for the global economy crash do we think??

40 lengths tonight, though I'm sure it was more like 100 the amount of dodging arond people I had to do! Honestly I'd be doing so much better if it weren't for those pesky 'other people'!!!
