No these girls genuinely didn't seem to have a clue, some of them were unaware of other methods than condoms, and one said it split the one time she tried to get one on so she never bothered again! I was at the doctors on Monday having a new implant put in my arm (and wow has he mangled the job! Look like I've been got by a bear) and he said most young women don't think this far ahead and it was a mature decision. He was incredably shocked when I said that this was my third implant, I decided it was the most reliable method for me at 17. Apparently he's never seen someone that young get it done! Just a shame I won't be wearing any sleeveless frocks for a while.
Even better though, my local hospital is North Tees in Stockton, kind of a run down area, and I went in with extreme stomach pain about 5 years ago. Was crying with the pain. They made me take not one, not two but FOUR pregnancy tests before they even looked for other causes. 30 seconds and one free test later - boom - you have appendicitus, have some morphine! (Nurse later told me where I could buy it on the street, not sure he was a cosher nurse tbh!).Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

It's really been brought to my attention recently as my best friend has just had a baby. She's 26, her husband is 31 and they waited until they were married, had bought a house and were settled in their jobs before starting a family, and they get virtually nothing. They're not on a lot of money by any stretch of the imagination, but are just over the threshold that means they don't get too much (or anything) in child tax credits, and there were things she had to pay for when she was pregnant that people on benefits were getting for free, such as extra antenatal classes. When the baby is 9 months old, shell go back to work for two days a week- but they'll be living off her husband's wage because hers will all go towards childcare. The point is she WANTS to go back to work. The government makes it too easy to get by without working and doesn't reward young families that do work and that's why so many people can't be bothered. I'll step down off MY soapbox now...Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

You're right. Although people coming in to us has died down recently as we just don't have any houses, we have 2 empty ones but my cousin has blagged the almost complete one for when he leaves the army and I've got my eye on the other (it won't be ready until I'm 21 anyways)
It bugs me how teenage parents think they should have it handed to them on a plate. Saying that there were alot of older mums on the radio annoyed because they wont be getting as much single mums benefit after their child turns 12. But if you need money you have to work.
*steps off soap box and dusts it down*
Nope I'm right up there with you on the soapbox! Of course I would prefer to stay home with my kids when I have them, but it is not my right to be able to do this, and if I want kids I need to be able to pay for them or accept some sacrifices (such as working part time, or moving to a smaller house/worse area).Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

One of my old friends first had the implant at 14 (i think it was the implant anyways) but that was because her mum made her. She was abit *ahem* free wheeling..
And I know another girl my age (abit younger actually) who has two baby girls, and a girl I went to school with is expecting  It's crazy when if I think of having a mini me at my age nevermind when I was 13 and still playing with dolls and collecting tiggers! (Although I doubt a the type of 13 year old who's got pregnant plays with dolls and collects tiggers.)
Just noticed it's an hour until the weekend!0 -

This reminds me of when I went for emergeny contraception when I was 17. The doctor sort of sighed and said "How long ago was it that you had unprotected sex?" And I was like "Er, ACTUALLY we didn't, we just THINK that the condom MIGHT have split and wanted to be on the safe side!" :mad:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

We had a full term of sex ed lessons too - and an exam at the end. Although worryingly I failed....
