Hmm, can't imagine Ripon's really the social hub of Yorkshire! Not too far from me tho, and Dinah, we should have a 'meet' in, like, Catterick or somewhere! I know what you mean, I can't really imagine meeting lifelong friends at bookclubs and such, all my friends who I actually meet up with rather than just keep in touch with are from school and uni, without exception.

They're starting with Booker prize winners so quite a few of the books are ones I keep meaning to read, but haven't quite got round to yet (or in the last 10 years). Still, I have an English degree, so I'm hoping I'll be able to keep up :) Not sure when the first one is yet, but I'll keep you posted...

Oooh, yes, do! I fancy joining a book club but I'm scared I'll be sat there saying 'I liked it' whilst everyone else goes into really deep discussions about it!

When the BBC did that Big Read programme of the top 100 books I got the list and worked my way through it, I didn't manage all of them (I'm still trying, slowly but surely!) but I read loads of books I wouldn't have read without it! It was my own little personal book club!

I've just joined a book club! (at the library) They seem really popular - I had to be on a waiting list, and the normal one is still booked up so this is a 'literary' one. Eesh, hope they're not going to be all pretentious know-it-all types! But I figure if I want to go, then maybe they'll be other people like me there - fingers crossed!

Ooh, I might have a look in our library. What's in the 'normal' club then? I think I'd prefer the literary one if they're Booker Prize winners. I guess you have to keep up the pace though with everyone else, not sure I could handle that kind of pressure!

Everyone I'm 'kind of friends with' i.e. go out with for a drink every 2 months are people from work (current and old) and such, none are really close friends, they certainly won't be at the wedding. In fact I've only got 1 friend I actually class as my true bestest friend who I want at my wedding, no-one else really bothers me!

It would be fun to have a meet up, although I do have images of us all turning up at a cafe holding roses to identify ourselves! LOL!

Hehe, I hope you have a lot of spare time, if you're anything like me you'll get addicted to crossing books off the list! I remember reading a classic one time, thinking it was on the list, and it was awful but I persevered because I had to cross it off, when I finally finished it wasn't even on there!

Home time now, talk to you tomorrow!

I'm not sure about the 'normal' club, I think it's probably a mixture of Richard & Judy picks and some classics. Hopefully it will quite laid back - when I worked at Waterstones I 'chaired' the monthly book club and it was good fun. People say as much or as little as they like. And there was wine!

That reminds me, most bookshops have book groups too.. Not sure if you have a Waterstones in Ripon... Harrogate definitely does but I'm not sure how far away that is from you. My Northern geography isn't great seeing as I live on the South coast :)

Re: Stealing Birdie's top 100 idea - me too! me too!

Right, all this talk of body fat and Dinah's incredible motivation has inspired me to go to the gym. So, have a lovely evening girls and I'll catch up with you soon!

There's not that many I've read there actually if you don't count the Harry Potters! There's quite a few I've got but haven't read yet though, ooh I can feel a challenge coming on!

Lol I did the BBC Big Read top 100 too! Like you I didn't quite make it, some just did not appeal at all.

Meet sounds interesting, I promise to bring NIM just as an IM!

Know what you mean on wanting to be on the skinny side of normal. Technically on the BMI chart I currently fall bang on the ideal weight line (was suprised at that!), but I feel very tubby. I'm 10st and 5 ft 7, but I want to get back down to 8 stone 7, which is just in the underweight category, but was when I felt I looked and felt the best.

I was nervous about yoga, as the whole meditation thing has always worried me, I like to really push, I don't exactly do well just sitting trying not to think - seems like wasted time! Turns out however that I'm awesome at yoga - meditated so well I fell asleep! Yoga part was okay, but I could do the advanced version of every move the class did, and didn't really find any challenging except one where I had to balance on my dodgy knee and lean forward! Don't think I will go back to be honest, pilates suits me better. Going to the gym again tomorrow, no class just to do an hour or so in the actual gym.

Need to write up my MS reports this evening while NIM is at work, only did 2 of the 4, the two banks can be done tomorrow when we're in the areas anyway, and the 5th job was a phone call which I couldn't do as for some reason it kept saying my job ID was invalid. Holiday shop took me a staggering 55mins for a £6 fee, was quite long! The lunch was nice though and we'll get about £5 back from that. Realised as we walked back to the car that we were in a pay and display area and we hadn't bought a ticket - luckily we hadn't been caught otherwise it would have been a really expensive mystery shop!

Looks like it's going to cost £206 to mend NIMs laptop - thats about half the cost we bought it for!
