It's always quiet on a weekend. NIM is all ill and coughing, so had to rescedule my MS as he is all pathetic and wants hugs when he's poorly!

This is a happy weekend - as well as NIMs cheque clearing, I've saved up enough to pay off CC2 (and a little over, see my staggering house deposit total!). Having thought about it, I think Tete is right, I'd like to simplify things, so we're going to pay off CC2 instead of trying to fill both ISAs. However even after paying off CC2, should still have £1500 to stick in ISA2 so it's not a bad compromise.

Looked up my credit record this weekend, I have no less than 10 empty but still there accounts from catalogues, store cards, and general things going back to 2003 that I didn't even know I had! So this week I need to focus on getting letters written to close them. Other than that the only real uhoh factor is the A & L account which has constant late payments on it, and isn't showing as closed yet, which means I still am financially linked to the evil ex.

LOL you are an MSE addict Tesco Points!!!

I think you're right to keep things simple, Dinah. Aren't the 20k in 09 and house deposits the same challenge?! Interest rates are so rubbish at the moment, it's not as important as usual to get your money into an ISA.

Don't know what my interest will be when it gets added in April.

I think the predictions for house prices are falls into 2010, so you've still got loads of time to make up the deposit you need. Also NIM will have his career well on the right track by then too. (Although I am also like you - I hate waiting!)

Have been sending proposal drafts back and forth with my friend Alex this weekend. HOPEFULLY there will be no mare changes and I can just send the beast out tommorrow to potential supervisors. I'm going to be applying for London, but also to Lancaster. Is that near any of you ladies?

Lancaster isn't near me, I stand alone in Nottinghamshire! Fingers crossed for your applications though.

Had a great weekend - been on walks with the boy and watched pride and prejudice (only one episode left to watch) - Larkrise to Candleford later! Also going to Chatsworth with OH next weekend *claps*

Well done on clearing CC2 Dinah :T When you're debt free Aug/Sept time you better not leave us all alone twitching, we'll have to take over some other poor souls thread!

  • Hi Girls,

Haha Dinah, I use OH's name all the time - it's just shorter and easier than mine. I don't even think he was freaked out by it, he just gave me an amused look the first time. Well done on clearing CC2 and £1500 for the ISA is very respectable indeed. That sounds brill what your mum suggested, for you and her - she'll be getting her debt paid off without even having to think about it.

Hope NIM feels better soon. I'm loads better than I was on Friday but now my nose is all scabby and peeling where I've been blowing it all week, lovely! Red wine seemed to cure my ills on Friday night I have to say ;), and the comedy which was ace, apart from (for the Northern contingent) Graham Mack off the radio who just wasn't funny at all and completely bombed. Me and my friend felt really sorry for him, but not sorry enough to laugh!

Cinny I'm jealous of your Chatsworth visit, really wanted to go last weekend but it's not open yet.

Hopefully Birdie's lack of communication for the weekend means she's been knee deep in packing boxes the whole time...

Good luck with the proposal Lara, don't think there's anyone from Lancaster way on here is there?

Just trying to decide what to do now, film or book...??

Oh pain, it doesn't open until the 11th of March! Looks like OH will have to take me for my birthday :D I'll treat him to the cinema this weekend instead.

I was thinking that too (of birdie and the boxes!) Be great if she's finally in.

Here's to another week. *raises coffee mug*

Morning ladies! It's nice to know that you've been thinking of me, I feel one one of the gang for real now! :D

Sadly I still haven't moved! Estate agent is very hopeful that we'll complete today but I have to wait until both they and the solicitors are open to find out! The solicitors were apparently too busy with completions on Friday to sort out my file... how nice for those people lucky enough to be completing eh?!

I can never get on here on a weekend as OH's PC is hooked up to his TV and I don't get a chance to be with MSE on my own! Also, the TV is a 37" widescreen so it makes my eyes go funny trying to read the screen!

I hope NIM feels better today, it's so cute that he's all needy and cuddly when he's ill though! Glad to hear that you're better now tete, apart from the sore nose!

I wish I could go to Chatsworth Cinny! Shame that it isn't open yet but it'll be lovely to go for your birthday! :T
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!
