I didn't tell her that apart from the beer/wine thing she had pretty much described NIM!

I'm very chuffed with NIM this morning, he's feeling a bit better on the flu pills, has already got up and done all the surveys, with no asking from me! He then did the onepolls, and is now applying to the MS companies and then he's going to apply for his ISA! He transfered the money he owes me for the CC over at the weekend, and I finally got my £170 from HSBC for the CC charges so that will go into the house deposit fund in the next few days as well.

  • That timescale sounds very sensible Dinah. You will have a really big deposit by then!

Lara - glad the proposal seems to be going way better. Are you feeling better about it now?

Awh, Bless your OH! I don't know of many guys who would of done that, I suspect mine would of stayed in bed suffering from man flu.

Just figured out I won't be able to move much into savings this week, £10 will be going in as I want to put a little in each week and I figure it's better than nothing! I've got my phone bill coming out, OHs birthday presents to get, plus I'll be taking him out for dinner on the day. I'll work something out.

Suprisingly this week is going to be okay for savings. I *might* manage to fill the last £460 of the ISA this week, can already account for £310, think the money I will have left over on payday will get me almost the last bit there, provided I get an MS fee or something too!

Sounds good Dinah! Can someone explain to me what an ISA is about? In simple terms, not like what I get when I look on banking websites!
  • Just popping in while I have my yoghurt :D My head is wrecked sorting through people's application data - some of these people are complete morons, can't even complete a simple application form properly or get their email address right, and yet they teach our children! I'm sure all these golden handshakes into the teaching profession have lowered the standard! (Deep breath)

ISA looking good, I love payday when you start divvying up your money and deciding where it's going. I presume house deposit and ISA are one and the same?

Hmm, I'm not keen too keen on today's dress either. Just googled SJP's dress and I'm not too keen on that either! I don't know where you get the idea that OH's on the verge of proposing though Dinah, I'm sure he's not!! Although he's been talking about emigrating to Oz for a year or two once he's chartered and we've established that I'll definitely go with him, so there's definitely a future! :)

Your poor friend does sound picky, tbh I don't know whether she should be out on the hunt so soon after breaking up with the last one anyway, not for anything serious and lasting anyway!

Lara, get those crystals listed! I don't know whether I said when you mentioned it before or whether I just thought about saying it (my ageing brain!), but I used to work in Swarovski and people go mad for them! I'm sure you'll do well. Have you thought about looking them up and finding out how much they're worth? Some are more rare than others I'm sure...

Was it CMD who asked about swimming? See sig, didn't do any last week as I was feeling so crappy, can't go tonight either as I'm giving blood - tried swimming afterwards once and almost drowned! Right that's a long enough break! ...

Ohh, I love the fascinator! That's a(nother) lovely dress. Would look good without the train too. I was looking at the dress SJP wore to the Oscars and after thinking 'She's a very odd looking lady' I then thought 'That should be Birdies DOTD!'

I have finally been able to see a picture, my work PC is so rubbish it took ages to decide whether or not to let me see it! That is quite a pretty dress and I like the magic word... Dior! Not too sure about the belt though, looks a bit odd!
Birdie, sorry the house move wasn't completed. Hope it gets sorted out today. What is it like? Are you excited?

It's a 2-bed flat. Not huge but brand new and very nicely done with a lovely bathroom and kitchen. We've been arguing about how many of my bookcases we're going to be able to fit into it and he seems to think we only need a small one... poor misguided boy! We can't wait to get in, I've forgotten half the stuff I've bought for it so it'll feel like christmas when we're unpacking!

Your savings are going so well dinah, I wish I could save half as much as you do, I'm terrible!

Your MSE rationing isn't going very well Tete! I can't stay away too long either! :rotfl:

I can't believe your friends list for her ideal man Dinah! I realised from an early age that long wish lists just caused problems because it meant you might pass opportunities by because the person doesn't look right or do the right job. My OH is nothing like my ideal man if I had made a list! We're like chalk and cheese; he's sporty, I'm bookish; he's blond, I'm brunette; he's loud, I'm quiet; he's a rugby playing beer-fiend, I used to verge on tee-total (but now drink a little when I'm out with the other beer fiends)! It looks odd to outsiders but it works for us :p My best friend is a bit like yours with her ridiculous lists and I can't make her see sense. She's never had a 'real' boyfriend and the way she dismisses men she never will. I mean, she has 'must love musicals' in her top 5! Does she want A Gay because that's what it looks like! :rotfl:

Oh Lord! I'm quite glad OH doesn't like musicals, I do get some enjoyment out of watching him squirm when I put The Producers on. Although one time he did try to get me back by making me watch Pulp Fiction, which failed as I quite liked watching John Travolta do the twist (and little did he know he was my school girl crush from look whos talking!)

Looking online at ISAs now. Bank account screen shopping has taken over my pretty dresses and shoes! Pity I can't make much sense of them.
  • My OH loves musicals, he's always wandering about singing It's a Hard Knock Life. I swear he's a little bit gay.

LOL! I was watching High School Musical 3 on Saturday afternoon whilst OH had popped out (and stayed out longer than he should have because he knew what was going on at home!) and he came back in for the last 10 minutes, he couldn't bear to watch even that, he left the room until it was finished! :rotfl: The only 'musicals' he likes are the Disney cartoons from the 90s (Hercules is his favourite!), but he gets really mad when I sing along! :o

I save my real musicals (Calamity Jane, Seven Brides etc) for my Dad, he loves them for some reason, kind of wierd but sweet!
