The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

It must be difficult Dinah but try to think about it this way: He's moved here to be with you, it's a recession and he's lucky to have the little work he has. I think we often forget to be grateful for what we have, I know I do and it helps to stop once in a while and take stock.
You never know, NIM might get a great job soon and the ISA will fill itself before you know it!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
That's very true Birdie, thank you. I can't forget how happy I am to have him here, I just don't want the money making to slow down too much!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

You have a manageable amount of debt now, you need to pat yourself on the back for that! I know you don't really want it to come to a stand still after all your hard work but don't put too much pressure on yourself, you're young and should enjoy yourself, not meaning going out and spending a bomb on nothing but sitting back and relaxing one night a week.
Kitkats and cat naps for everyone, I say!0 -
Thing is I was driving in this morning thinking I'm happy with the balance now, Have NIM here all the time, few nights a week at the gym, a night a week seeing other friends, bit of time to paint or something on a weekend. Tis good. It's just the extra slog to finish the last bit of debt and save the house deposit that's taking it a bit out of kilter!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hurrah! I've just found a box of Toffifee in my drawer so I'm on them now! Mmmmm.
Dinah, the money making may be like weightloss, it stalls for a bit after an initial speedy period then it speeds up again, it's just a case of not getting disheartened and throwing in the towel. Cinny's right, you should kick back once a week and not think about it too much or you'll burn yourself out.
This time next year you'll be rolling in savings and smiling about how you had been so worried about things not going the way you wanted!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Cinny's right
*flicks hair*
Don't you be coming at us saying you have your date night, that doesn't count because you're always trying to make the money back (not saying it's a bad thing, just saying it isn't the same)
Ooh, I was a little stern there, didn't mean it to be! I've scared myself.
Mmm Toffifee! I have to wait until tomorrow for my chocolatey treat - Diet coke and a kitkat at my Grans while watching the end of Deal or No Deal, or whatever's on channel 4.0 -

Don't worry Dinah, you will get there on the deposit. You need to give yourself a much bigger pat on the back for becoming almost debt free. It's been an AMAZING achievement!!! Some people would have taken years and years to pay it all back, and you have done wonderfully through resourcefulness, true grit and dedication.
NIM is still making big changes in his life and you don't want to make him feel that he's not bringing home enough bacon. It is tough out there - one of the part time admin jobs I went for had over 400 applications!:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Lol date night is very relaxing save for the 10min report at the end, which I think is a fair price to pay for a free date night and the money can go to savings instead, and we try places otherwise we would never go. Admittedly so far only one of them I have wanted to go back to, but NIM wants to go to another one (which I found scary and cold but nm!) and it was insanely cheap and the food wasn't bad so we'll go there for dirt cheap dates too sometime.
I can't relax and do nothing, surely you all know this by now! I think it's a fair compromise to go to the gym a couple of hours, then come back and spend an hour or so on the moneymaking, and the weekend. NIM and I have 4 travel agents to hit (one in a woolies though, think that might be gone?!) on Sunday, which will net us £24 for only petrol money (about £3), so going to cross my fingers for more MS in the area too, and then we will go for a swim or something together afterwards.
Really looking forward to date night this week, and I think it'll be his kind of place, usually the MSs are for more my kind of pizza, chicken places etc, will be nice to actually see NIM again instead of just sleeping or talking on gmail chat when I'm at work!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I know he did well getting this job, it's more the fact that I know his wage at present doesn't cover his outgoings, so he needs to bring in a bit more just to keep himself afloat, so my money can keep going off the debt, as I don't want to start the whole cycle of paying for the guy in my life again if I can avoid it, no matter how much I know he is trying.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
