In fairness to them it is said in jest, usually after a few drinks. If they hated the English they wouldn't have so many English friends and come over as much as they do. But I do feel some undercurrents to it, like it's the widely-accepted conception that the English are baddies. Anyway, I didn't mean to start a heated debate, I guess I'm that used to playful name-calling amongst my friends and I probably shouldn't talk like that on an open forum.

Glad it's only in jest Tete! We have lots of English friends and they call us stuff like 'potato pickers' etc but we just laugh at them and retort back with something else.

I have found on holidays all over Europe that people's attitude to us change when they find out we are Irish. They love us and usually say something negative about English. I think it's a terrible and think it must be very hard for English people to face that attitude.

  • You're exactly right CMD, I've experienced that in France with my Irish friends and it is quite annoying not to mention insulting. This is why I always make an effort to learn some of the language for wherever I go, that usually endears you to people a bit I find.

Anyway ladies, I'm off home now, finally - what a long day! Have a good weekend! What's everyone up to? I'm off for lunch with Granny and the great-aunties tomorrow and hoping to catch Australia while it's still on at the pics - this means paying full price which I'm very annoyed about!! :D

Have fun, Tete! That movie does look pretty good. I'm spending tomorrow in town with OH then going to manchester on sunday with mum, trying for minimal spend but like i said, that at a craft fair is hard. Plus I have my new glasses to buy this week so I'll be extra on the ball moneywise.

Buying OH's valentines present tonight, nothing major just a new wallet for him! Moved all my STP money to my mums paypal account as it's on ebay. Is this what they call a *ahem* money netural gift? As I did earn the money rather than take it out of my wages.

Right, I'm logging off as well now. Might check on later as I woo myself with the wonders of online banking once more. Have a good Friday!
  • WooHoo Dinah93 your diary is on page 100 now, thats almost as big achievement as your money saving:T

Morning all. Very early post from me I know. Worst part is I have already been up nearly 2 hours!

NIMs flight last night was cancelled, so he was moved to the first flight this morning out of Newcastle. So he was up at 5am to get ready to fly, which meant I was up at 5am worrying about him flying. He's at the airport now, so far it's not cancelled. This means he can go to the bank in Dublin, but doesn't have time to go home to Limerick to get all his stuff.

Moneysaving last night didn't happen, as made dinner for everyone then as OH had to get up early he wanted an early night, so was in bed at 9.30pm. However today I have all day to crack on with it. All I've been doing recently is my free scratchies, one poll and that's it. Need to get back on the wagon.

Have 2 negitive feedback on Ebay, first ever in over 900. This really, really annoys me. In addition had to pay my Ebay fees last night - £70! Seems an incredible ammount for the hassle and abuse I got, and is about 15% of my earnings, then they take another cut through paypal too.

    So, today:
    • Free scratchies
    • Onepoll
    • 2 Dooyoo reviews
    • Tidy room
    • Sort 2 boxes of papers
    • Find proof of postage for pink skirt
This will leave me Sunday free to do the surveys that have built up, make cakes for work, and (urgh) list some more things on ebay. Think we might try to do 20. Only 2 binbags left to do. Is it just me or have they not had a free listings day in ages?!

Did at least finally write the Barclaycard letter yesterday, so sending it recorded delivery today.

Used my £10 off a £25 spend at Staples this week. Bought 150 padded envelopes (half price, £2.05 for a medium pack of 10, and £3.06 for the big bags of 10) for £16, which is about 11p each, good for the last ebay sales.

Already sleepy again though, this does not bode well!

    Hi Dinah,
Just thought i would drop in to see how NIMs trip back to Ireland went? Did his parents already know before he went back that he was leaving or is that what he went back for? Hope it went ok for him and he is safely back with you!!!

  • Oh what a pain for NIM to go over then have to turn around and come back. Was he relieved not to have to see the parents? And to be up at 6.30 on a Saturday is criminal!!! Yuk. And ebay is sounding worse and worse, I bet you'll be glad to be debt free and able to just put stuff in the charity shop when you want rid!

STILL didn't get to see Australia in the end what with one thing and another but we have spent the day pottering about making soup and puddings and custard so it's been lovely. OH has gone off home now and I'm sort of sitting here watching Mavis watching a blue tit in the garden, whilst trying to decide what to do with the remains of the day. In theory I'd like to go to the pool and crack on with my challenge but it's sooo cold and I'm sooo full of custard!!

  • Out of interest Dinah, was the size 10 dress person one of the ones who let a neg? At least your positive % is still really high- I don't let a few negs put me off buying from someone if most of their feedback is good.

I'm currently trying to get my Amazon voucher from Dooyoo but can't until I get a review unlocked. Not really sure why it was locked, but have now added further to it so there's definitely nothing wrong with it now. Hopefully voucher will come through this week.
