Yes, in a word. It's too embarrassing that he works with the common people. Seriously, you'd think they were royalty with some of these opinions. His dad got where he is by hard graft, yet expects his son to get immediately halfway up the career tree as if by magic.
Where's my snow?! It's completely clear here!!
Guisborough has its own micro-climate, snow will still bere here in June.
Will this recipe be going on dooyoo?
Maybe, the mousse one is really really easy. Cost me £9.80 for the ingredients, I know I'm feeding 5 but seriously! Still I guess £2 a head for 2 courses isn't too bad.
And ebay sounds horrendous, you've put me off ever wanting to use it again!
Me too actually. Although OH and I have agreed we'll continue to list the stuff, just he'll reply to the emails! Having someone yell at me in typed form puts a downer on my whole day. You would never go be that rude face to face in a shop.
Use check in online and hand baggage only Tete, I have a suitcase that comes just over my knee on wheels, It's enough for a week away let alone a weekend, and is small enough to use as hand baggage. But use online check-in, check at the airport and I once got told my case was too big (by under 1cm, stupid handle!) despite using it every other time ive flown, and it fitting fine in the overhead lockers. Plus online check in is cheaper. Use a electon card if you have one to pay, cuts another £5 each way off.
English still haven't been forgiven over there, despite the fact that we weren't alive when it all happened and wouldn't do it again! 800 years ago people were still eating one other, discovering most of the world, considered leeches groundbreaking and slept with our cows to keep warm, we weren't exactly civilised! I have found the attitude quite abrasive at times, so it's best not to open my mouth.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

That's where me and OH are off too this year camping with his family. Cornwall just makes me think of beach huts and ice cream, so excited already! Being good with the voucher though, just screen shopping. Didn't get the mariokart game in the end - figure I can steal it from OH
£15 is put to one side for my grandmas birthday present, if there's any left over from it i might treat myself to a guide book..

Not all Irish people have that attitude but I agree that it isn't something that is discussed in the pub as it becomes quite a controversial issue. The older generation would be the most bitter but then they lived through some of it. The younger generation are being ignorant if they are still holding a grudge, it is stupidity really.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I've only really had contact with the under 50s, I think it's just cool to hate the English. And you don't really question a lot of the values around you that are accepted as the norm. If we did we wouldn't all grow up to be christian/atheist, but people from white, british families would be jews, muslims, buddists etc, but they aren't, because they don't really question the status quo.
That comes across as harsh, no offense is meant to any religion, ethnicity or nationality, was supposed to be about why we don't question societal values.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I think it is the people that remain at home in Ireland (or any other country) are the ones that don't question values. People who are well travelled and have mixed with other people from different places and who have different religions will be more flexible in their views .
I know people with ignorant attitudes (towards lots of different things not just English) and consider themselves to be well-travelled. However, in all reality they go on package deals every year and mix with people from the same country.
I'm sure if your OH's family were more flexible in their outlook they would accept you as a lovely person for their son, regardless of where you come from and what you look like.
It saddens me that in this day and age there are still people like that. Luckily my family and friends in Ireland are willing to accept whoever I bring to their house (from any nationality or sexual orientation) and be friendly to them. Looks like you have drawn the short straw with potential in-laws? I'm sure your OH must be embarassed if his friends act like that towards you. Ha he ever had a word with them?Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

As the High School Musical song once said *ahem* stick to the status quo-o-wo-o-wo. Seriously though, I get what you mean Dinah, doesn't really come across as harsh just true really.
Someone who works for my dad, an oldish lad, still holds a grudge against Germany for WW2, where as my Grandparents don't and they actually lived through the war rather than being born after it. Just weird the way people are.0 -

In fairness to them it is said in jest, usually after a few drinks. If they hated the English they wouldn't have so many English friends and come over as much as they do. But I do feel some undercurrents to it, like it's the widely-accepted conception that the English are baddies. Anyway, I didn't mean to start a heated debate, I guess I'm that used to playful name-calling amongst my friends and I probably shouldn't talk like that on an open forum.
Thanks for the hand baggage info Dinah, I am after all a Money Saving Stalwart so I know all about this however OH isn't so thrifty and I'm wondering about liquids - he'll only have full size shampoos and stuff which aren't allowed still are they? I might buy him some little decanty pots, cheaper than paying the baggage fee. No Electron card though so I'll just have to grit my teeth with that one!
Love the phrase 'screen shopping' Cinny - did you just make that up or is it one that I've missed? In France they say 'window licking' for window shopping, which I quite like as well!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Window licking?! I can understand that though, walking past all the little bakerys in France! Screen Shopping, don't know if it's been used before but I thought it was more fitting than window. You can get the sets pretty cheaply in boots, with the little free funnel! I was so impressed first time I saw that..0

Nope, still only 100ml of each in hand baggage, and they are really tough with it.
OH is flying now, going to try to get on top of the money making in the next 24 hours while he is off, although tonight won't be able to start until 8ish when I've done dinner and the like.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Seems like ages since you've spoken of money making Dinah! Or maybe I just ramble too much and don't give you chance? I'm hitting on the latter
What will you be doing?
