Right, I'm going home! Well I'm not but the server is being reset so I best scoot my boot. I will come back screaming once I've put my first penny in my savings account.

    Bye!!

Good grief, someone comes to discuss an application and you lot have almost filled a page!

OH going back to Ireland this weekend to pack and (hopefully) make amends with his parents. I think he should go alone as he needs to talk to them properly, but he wants me to come with him. Hopefully by the end of the weekend we'll know a little better what we're planning to do with regards where he/we move to.

He called back about the construction job, the guy said he would get back to him again, I have to assume he didn't.

  • Doesn't sound too hopeful but you never know. Are his parents mad then that he's got a job here?

:money: Aww yeah - under £3k!!!! That's AMAZING! Well done
I'm sure OH's rentals will come round. It's so close really, and it must be tricky to get a job in Ireland right now? In the North they have been shedding about 1000 per day recently. So at least he has that on his side.

Your challenge 'swimming the channel' sounds great Tete!

Thanks for the virtual brownies x

    Hi everyone

I haven't posted for a while but I'm still stalking - in a non scarey way, of course. Everyone's been so busy I've been reading this and going dizzy!

Dinah, congrats on NIM's (swit swoooo!) job. Hope it all goes well at the weekend.
Tete - good luck with the swimming. I could do the same distance in about 10 minutes but it would be downwards, I believe they call it drowning!
Cinny, I can almost smell those cookies and brownies and have put half a stone on just thinking about them - nothing to do with the creme egg addiction I have!
I'm busy at the moment working 2 extra days a week trying to pay off my massive overdraft. I really need a kick up the bum. I'm also trying to think of a present for my OH cos it's his birthday on 25th. I need something reasonably priced as I just don't have the money for something expensive. I used all my reasonably priced ideas up for christmas though, which is a bummer. If anyone has any ideas please feel free to offer them.

Right, I must nip over to dooyoo now as you're all doing really well and I've slacked there too.

    Bye

£400 in my savings now, £600 to go! When I signed on I noticed my savings already had £100 in it, completely confused I manically checked my statements and £100 went into it from my CA on the 16th of January and I didn't even notice! I thought I had a good eye on my account, clearly not. I mean, I'd understand 20.. but 100? Jesus Christ.

Pilchard - Good luck on Dooyoo, I've been slacking on it too!

I don't see how his parents could object, he's a grown man in a good steady relationship, he's got an okay job over here and a place to live while he gets himself on his feet. I get where you're coming from with not going but maybe he wants a hand to hold while he cuts the apron strings with the other!
  • Woo! 30 lengths down... 1097 to go!! If my foot hadn't cramped up I would have gone for 34 which is just over 1km, but once that starts I'm done for. I feel great for it now as well. Back's hurting a bit but I think that's more down to the cat sleeping on top of me than the swimming, going to pilates at lunchtime to sort that out.

£400 is brill Cinny well done! Wish I could be £100 down and not notice!!!

No ideas for a pressie Pilchard sorry, I hate buying for men they're so difficult!

And developments Dinah? Are you going over at the weekend? I'm excited for you to finally have him in the country!

OK, I'm off to work on a spreadsheet for recording my swimming achivements :D

Well done Tete! You really put me to shame with your swimming and pilates! The most I manage is one belly dancing class a week and it was cancelled this week because of the snow!

Dinah, I hope your NIM manages to convince his parents that he's doing a good thing by moving over here. Surely he's better off coming over here working and living with a supportive family network close by in the form of your family than staying there doing nothing or moving to somewhere like London on his own? I think you've both proved that visiting isn't difficult either!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

Well done on the laps! And pilates at lunch? You're braver than I am.

I felt such a bloody idiot with the bank! I do remember ringing them up last month now, and thinking 'I was certain I was a figure higher in the hundreds' I just put it down to loosing count.

Pilchard - Ermm, thinking of gift ideas!! Have you looked on Firebox's experiences? You can get some rather cheaply. Like a monster truck ride or indoor skydiving? I have a £5 off voucher somewhere if you want it, hardly every order from firebox! That or you could make him a coupon booklet, on the basis he only redeems one a month. You could have one to fill up his car, take away and dvd night, or to take him on a date?
  • Ah pilates isn't too stressful really. Haha, no I wouldn't like to bellydance in the snow I have to say! I used to do bellydancing classes and really enjoyed it but they stopped them :(
