The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

Belly dancing looks fun but I have two left feet and can barely keep in time with simple exercises!
Just sent my Uncle off to get me some cough sweets, mainly cause I need them but also so he stops hurling abuse at my brother. :rolleyes:0 -
Oh dear! I don't think I could work with family I have to say!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

My uncle is very outspoken, I normally tolerate it but I get too defensive when it's aimed at my brother. It's fun working with family as we all seem to group together well, cheer leading for eachother, but the normal family cheekiness doesn't always translate well into the office.0

Is it only family members in your office Cinny? Or do you have other employees as well? I think it sounds nice
but I guess it depends on the family...
I did a boxercise class last night for the first time in ages - I can barely walk now!LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Mainly us family lot but we have an estimator and another office admin who are like a second family the way we act. It's a very relaxed office, like us having the pup in here, the ground basis is we're all good friends as well as family, which is a bonus!
Ouch for you, Poodle! I'm sticking to my treadmill and the telly I think..0 -
I don't see how his parents could object, he's a grown man in a good steady relationship, he's got an okay job over here and a place to live while he gets himself on his feet. I get where you're coming from with not going but maybe he wants a hand to hold while he cuts the apron strings with the other!
Sorry, took me until this morning to stop laughing. They seriously disapprove. His mum thinks I've done some kind of witchcraft on him and am stealing her son. His dad has even said he's not concerned about him moving over as he knows he will be back in a few months when he realises he can't live on such a small ammount of money. His parents consider call center/shop work/teaching to be demeaning and below him. This attitude honestly disgusts me, as no work is too lowly for anyone, you take what you can get and you work hard to support yourself.
I'm not going, in the end it worked out that NIM has to get the 4pm flight from DTV today, which is when I'm at work, and then come back late tomorrow night to Newcastle, so I'm going to go meet a friend for dinner before collecting him at 10pm.
Need to go out in all the snow at lunchtime to Morrisons, and also to the bank to find out how much it'll cost for OH to transfer money to my account from Ireland by bank transfer and also by bankers draft.
My aim to show mum how helpful we are continues, I'm making dinner again tonight. Homemade pizza and thank crunchie its friday mousse.
Booked to go look at David Lloyd on tuesday. I really want to go swimming and all the classes are free once you join, so want to do a bit of yoga/pilates and circuits I think. Don't think NIM is entirely comfortable he will be able to afford it though, but the way I look at it is this is a great offer we're getting, and instead of going to eat out 3x a week when we're bored, more on a weekend, we can go swim and only have 1 date night a week. Speaking of which I have a nice La Tasca voucher for next week, and a pizza express one for the week after. Might treat us to a £9.99 for two courses at TGI fridays after my MS on Thur too, I know this ruins the one date night a week thing, but we're not members of the gym yet!
Ebay buyers are driving me balistic, another one is threatening to open a dispute now. A palmtop computer I decsribed as having 'minor damage to the screen, but fully functional' he is complaining that it is cracked across the top corner (it is, but it still works as a touchscreen) and is less than 5mm long, has been that way since I got it. He is complaining that he refurbs these and sells them on, and now there is no profitability in it for him. I hate the new ebay system. The buyer is always right and screw the seller. The fact that I have over £50 of unpaid items still irriates me, in the old days buyers never did that as they didnt want to risk neg feedback, now they can bid with impunity.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Maybe they feel like it's the English colonialists stealing their son away and raping him in a foreign land? And that opinion is shocking, would they rather he stayed in Ireland unemployed (which I believe he is?)?Need to go out in all the snow at lunchtime to Morrisons, and also to the bank to find out how much it'll cost for OH to transfer money to my account from Ireland by bank transfer and also by bankers draft.
Where's my snow?! It's completely clear here!!My aim to show mum how helpful we are continues, I'm making dinner again tonight. Homemade pizza and thank crunchie its friday mousse.
Will this recipe be going on dooyoo?
And ebay sounds horrendous, you've put me off ever wanting to use it again!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
You aren't having much luck with ebay at the moment Dinah! If you put there was a problem on the screen he should of read it. serves him right!
And as for NIMs parents, they sound like a pain! Lol at what Tete said though. Sat here giggling away like a fool now.
Would you believe the post has only just turned up?! And this amazon voucher is burning a hole in my pocket. Looking at cornwall guides to buy now.0 -

Sorry, might come across as a bit racist, but as I've mentioned I have some good friends who are Irish and they're always banging on about how we're the bad guys and 600/700/800/900 years of oppresion and all that (changes every time, for emphasis I think).
That said, I'm looking at Dublin hotels at the minute to pop over and see em, can get fri-sun flights for £20 in March, though from what I can see Gee-bag O'Leary is now charging £28 to check in a bag?! Is that right??
Ooh, Cornwall - that's another place on my to-go list!!! *Daydreams wistfully*Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

Hi all,
Dinah, I think your OH's parents need to grow up a bit! He is an adult and doesn't need their approval to do things. When myself and OH moved to the UK OH's parents weren't too impressed. And 6 years later they still want us to move home. We do get the odd snipe about it but that would be the case in any country we are, not just the UK.However, it is our lives and we just ignore it!
Tete, I think your friends are a bit childish to be going on about things that happened in the past. It is a contentious issue and not one that they should be bringing up with you. After all it wasn't in their lifetime (unless they are past 80!!!)
As for me, well I wouldn't be living in England if I didn't like the country or the people and I find the majorityof people to be very friendly and warm.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
