I think you are taking the sensible approach and should have children when you are ready. Late 20s is still young (well in my opinion anyway) and hopefully the blood pressure won't have risen too much by then.

Hi Raychee, it's great to meet you - butt in anytime! I try to take the attitude of one step at a time, and they might find a miracle cure of blood pressure next month, equally I might turn out not to be able to have kids for a whole other reason. Best of luck with the adoption process x
Late 20s is pretty late in my book, I don't know anyone who has had kids after 32. But then again we're pretty sheltered up here - I didn't know anyone who had gotten divorced until I met OH!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Raychee you've scared me! It's always in the back of my mind that I spend all my time trying not to get pregnant... what if I'm infertile?! Good luck with the adoption. It annoys me that there are so many horrible people bringing kids into the world, and the ones who could give kids a good loving home have to go through hell to try and get them.
I always used to worry about my body clock too when I was single (not so much now!) but my cousin made me feel better. She was married and had two kids by the time she was 21. When they were teenagers she divorced and then met another man and now that the first two have moved out, she's started on her second family, now 37 she's got a two year old and another on the way - and she's not even really an 'older' mum, or she doesn't seem it. So I thought if people can have two families then I should be ok to have one!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

I was just on the phone to a friend and her aunt is pregnant at 44!!! She had all the tests and the baby is fine. Most of my friends are late 20s early 30s when they are having children. I think sub 20s is too young emotionally if it can be helped, but after that it's personal preference. But there are a few major events to look forward to in life, I'm hoping to cluster the house buying with a wedding someday, don't want to throw anything else major into the mix too!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I can't imagine how I would have coped with a baby in my late teens or early 20s, and I'm glad I didn't have children young. It took 5 years for OH and me to move in together - 7 years ago, and then 6 months later I became seriously ill. Treatment has left me infertile.
It's odd really, because I KNOW that any earlier than in the last couple of years would have been too early for either of us. (It's only in the last year or so that my OH, at the age of 35 has stopped saying he's too young, or too irresponsible to have children...) But I suppose you miss what you can't have. Having said that, I don't think I would have done anything any differently.
Where I originally come from, you either got out of town by the age of 18, or you had 3 children by the time you were 22. (Actually, 18 was leaving it late for children where I lived...) As you might be able to tell... I escaped!
I'm glad I've had a life, and experience and all sorts... now I want my baby!!!!!!!!!!Natwest CC - [STRIKE]£2545[/STRIKE] now £0 :j

Hi Raychee,
Sorry to hear about your illness. I can relate to what you are saying about not feeling ready for a baby. I am only coming around to the idea in the last 6 months and I have just turned 32. I do feel ready now though and hope when the time is right it happens quickly.

I'm pretty much left out in the cold when it comes to baby and marriage talk! All i know is, in my perfect world I'll be a mummy when I'm 27 to either a little Ralph or a little May. Or a Ralph and Jack (which is shockingly likely if I stick with OH, twins seem to run in his family)
I hope you get your Baby Raychee! Must be so stressful at the moment for you.0 -
