I'm not religious in any way shape or form so it's a nice dress and a trip to the registry office for this one. Almost time to go to my grandparents. Do I spill to my Grandad? Or do I fill my mouth with so many kitkats I just have to nod and wave my hands about?

Have a nice night ladies! Might be on later to do some dooyoo and STP but my eyes are heavy already. I don't fair well on 5 hours sleep it seems.
  • I know Lara I saw! haha, I'm like you getting excited about going to places like Stoke on Trent! I'd take my camera even and do a bit of research on the place!

Oh you're telling him Cinny, it's the only way to control Spending Cinny. Besides old people have powers, never lie to them or look them directly in both eyes at once...

5 years is a long time, but if I was 20 I still wouldn't be concerned as I know how much changing I still had to do. If I'd been with someone 5 years and I was 35 I admit I'd be getting a bit edgy and after a few drinks would probably come out with something tactfull like 'get on with it you barswteward, cant you see my eggs are shrivelling worse than the wicked witches feet?!'

Tact never was my strong suit.

As it is, I'm 24 (in 6 days!), if it happens it happens, not going to worry about it.

I don't think I'd be quite so excited about going to Stoke on Trent, but congrats on the days work!

    Hi all,

Some of my friends have been absolute bridezillas when they got married and spent a fortune inviting 200-300 people. Half who they didn't even like!

I got married in Northern Spain with all my close friends and family (on the weekend!!!). However, most made it into a holiday for a week. We had a ball and the only traditional part of the wedding was the church bit, as it ended up as a bit of party after that. It was way cheaper than getting married in Ireland but I did buy a nice dress. I only plan to do it once so wanted it to be special. it was vintage looking though, not a meringue!

Saying that, I am always very respectful of people's wedding plans as it usually reflects their personality and most friends weddings have been a great day and a chance for a reunion. 3k is way too much for a dress but if someone wants to spend it I say let them, as long as they aren't getting in debt for it!

How come your so anti-wedding Dinah. I thought you were dying for a proposal before Xmas!!! Have you gone off the idea now? You better let your OH know, Valentines is coming up!

What can I say CMD, once bitten twice shy. I messed (took me far too long to think of a word MSE wouldnt bleep out there!) it up once badly, I don't want to go there again. If I can mess up the proposal that badly, I could cause a global scale catastrophy over the time it takes to plan a wedding. It's just too expensive for me to think it a good idea on a practical level.

Big drama tonight, dad had to go to hospital. He's put his back out and the doctor gave him two sets of tablets, he got all itchy and faint and then couldnt really breathe, seems like a strong allergic reaction, so thats where him and mum still are.

My to do list is likely to remain un done tonight....

  • Hope your Dad is okay Dinah. The hospital is the best place for him to be.

Re: weddings, if you have such a strong aversion you are defo best not to get married. I had great fun planning mine (prob cos it was relaxed) but you don't want to be so stressed that you don't enjoy it!

    Hi Lara,

We got married in Barcelona and it was a great day. There was no stress and everyone enjoyed having a few drinks in the sun (32C that day!). I actually had a friend on to me tonight (she got engaged in Dec) telling me that they are getting married in Italy. She said the atmosphere at my wedding inspired them to get married abroad. It was a really nice thing to hear!

I am also learning Spanish. Which part do you like or is it any part? I have a love affair with the country as well (more Northern Spain) and want to live there some day!

Dinah, I hope your Dad is doing okay.
