I'm clearly very well travelled! It's all right you lot going on about Spain and whatsits, I have no chance of a hot holiday for years *le sigh* Thankfully, my love of england and englishness is still going strong.0 -
Thanks for that Tete, I will go to the pet shop at lunchtime and see what they have. Although when she was sick a few days ago her tummy was upset in more ways than that, without being too graphic, so not sure. Will ask the pet shop.
Girlyness in office has reached critical mass today, the girl who is planning her wedding is also planning a honeymoon baby. She's only 23, surely one step at a time is enough, I don't feel anywhere near ready for kids, I enjoy how things are, and when I settle down I want to enjoy setting up my home and settling into that routine too. And I want a few years to try to find something else I'm good at instead of planning. If I rush it I will hit 45 and everything will be behind me!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Sweet baby jesus and the orphans. I hope I never ever get like that.
I agree with what you say about settling into a routine then having a baby a few years down the lane. People just seem to rush into it too much, I don't think I could get married, move out of my home, have a baby all in the same year. I'd be sent to the nut house. I'm a creature of habit, I couldn't take all that change!0 -
Well she already lives with her fiance, so I guess the setting up house and feeling like a wife has already been done. Another reason I'm staying at my parents until I have shackles on my finger.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

At 23 that sounds a bit OTT planning a honeymoon baby! What about enjoying being married for a few years! In fact, what about enjoying your 20s for a while, going on holidays and travelling, then think about babies! It seems she might have a void she is trying to fill in her life if she always has to be planning things.
Have you sorted out your medical problem Dinah? I recall you saying in a previous post that your doctor advised you to have children at a young age instead of waiting. Or have you quite a few years before you have to think about that?
Cinny, you will get to all these places. You are still young and there is plenty of time for you to go on holidays abroad. Nothing wrong with holidays in England at all. Some of the scenery is beautiful. In fact, I am going to the Lake District for 3 days in March and can't wait!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

I know i will one day, hopefully I can save a small bundle now and go traveling in my 20s. I'd love to see all of europe but be able to do it in nice hotels and eating great food rather than backpacks and hostels. This year me and OH are taking a week off of work and going camping to a few places in England.
Signed up to febuarys NSD challenge, going for 17! Also working 4 nine hour days next week which is great, will be able to put all the extra into my savings account. Feeling back on the mark now.0 -
I feel exactly the same Cinny, backpacks and hostels never interested me, I wanted to get on and get qualified so I could do it in style. And I love the lake district, although I do need my annual sun top up abroad (which I've missed for 4 years running now!).
Medical problem is lifelong I'm afraid CMD, tablets manage high blood pressure but its still going to keep on rising so doctors are always going to tell me it's dangerous to have kids and I really ought to get on with it. But I don't feel ready, and I want to give myself a couple of years to be in a better position that I can stay home to take care of them. My collegue won't have that option, their mortgage is almost her entire salary, and they live off of his. Yet I know she wants to be a SAHM, but by doing it young she won't be able to. It's a russian roulette, I don't want to have them when I'm not ready and can't enjoy it, but I don't want to leave it so long I can't have them at all. Hopefully by my very late 20s I'll feel ready.
Lunch break was a disaster. Well that's a bit strong, but it didn't go well. Eye brow woman made me wait 20 mins after my appointment time, so lunchbreak was already used up. Then the post office took forever (and cost £31 for postage, £12 for new packaging items). A contact lens tore in my eye so I had to go plead with specsavers, which took another 20mins. Then I went to the pet shop to get the cat stuff, they wouldn't take my card unless I spent £5 so got some cat grass too (apparently helps digestion without making them hurl like real grass). Realised I didn't have enough time to go to Boots so going to do that tomorrow, so just went to get a marker at the general Boyes store. Ended up spending 99p on the marker for the painting, and another £18 on wool, needles, and some bits for the wedding invites I found they stock. Very, very expensive lunchbreak!
Oh and I almost forgot, when I got back to work and took off my coat I've managed to loose 3 buttons from the front of my blouse over lunch. First time I wore it too, and now it's indecent! Luckily I had a vest top on under it, but I didn't imagine it would pop open and it's kind of a see through vest top.... ARGH!!!!!!!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

You should take it back if it's the first time you've worn it that's ridiculous!
Ah, Boyes. I spent my teenage Saturdays working there. It's actually brilliant for most things, especially crafty things, and OH likes the Handyman section!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Yeah I do like Boyes, and it's so stupidly cheap (which admits how much I bought!). Although the girl today was stroppy as sin, I stood by the till for nearly 5mins, then I asked her if it was open, and she glowered and said yeah and finally served me!
I'm not sure they're going to take back a top on the grounds that I was too busty to wear an 8 really but I liked it and grandad had taken the labels out! It is really loose and billowy style, it didn't seem to be pulling but clearly it was!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I wish I'd had children in my 20's, because illness now means I'm infertile, and you wouldn't BELIEVE the stuff they want to know while we work on our adoption application! I am one of those awful people who at the age of 36, tell all my 'young' friends to have children while they're still young and able to!
Dinah, I'm still loving your journal - you're pretty darn amazing in what you've managed to pay off! :j But I feel like I'm intruding in conversations here... tell me to butt out if you want!Natwest CC - [STRIKE]£2545[/STRIKE] now £0 :j
