The ultimate incentive to get debt free, can I do it by New Years?

The council the jobs are at risk at is Darlington. We just happen to know a planning officer there. But I do know they missed their targets last year so didn't get extra funding, while we smashed ours and have loads, so if we are allowed to use it for wages that money would buy us all another year here.
It's one of those things that you always think happens to other people, on the news, and isn't actually 'real', until it suddenly is.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Hopefully yours and tetes OH jobs are nice and secure. I'm worried Shaws might go under but my dad is certain if worst came to the worst we'd manage with enough work for the family on contracts.
OH knows he's getting a laptop, I told him so he doesn't get himself one and his parents know too so they don't get him one. I've noticed they've got a brown one so I think I'll go with that. Given me a proper saving goal now figure wise now.0 -
aaand just noticed STP has no scout rooms open!0

Phew. I thought maybe the whole Durham becoming unitary thing might have had more impact than first thought.
I know, it's scary- I thought we were all pretty safe at the uni but our 'sister' office has now ceased to exist, although staff are being redeployed to other areas. I should be safe as I work on a govt funded thing and we have just had our contract extended to 2011, by which time I hope to be long gone anyway! It was a bit close to home though!
Right girls, I'm off out to be wined and dined (or wined and pub-mealed) so enjoy your evenings, see you in the morning :wave:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Oh BTW Cinny, I think brown sounds super! (super?!) Men like brown... go with brown. Hey, what's brown and sticky? A stick!:rotfl:My second-favourite joke ever!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0

Everyone in my family is saying yellow, but Rich is so, soooooo. Not yellow! But then I know full well if I was to get him brown everyone will tell him he could of got yellow then he'll get it into his head (peer pressure and all) that yellow is the best thing since best of both hovis sliced bread and wish he had that. My family are terrible that way and Rich is fickle!0 -
Dinah, STP has a room open now! so you can put it back on your list if you want, or pretend i haven't said owt and have an early night.
Writing to amazon, my parcel was meant to be here today by 1am with their super dooper next day del. but hasn't shown. I'm on their prime free trial and it isn't really making me want to spend fifty odd pound a year to have something not turn up.
*edit* 4 tracks in and STP is having a paddy with me!0 -
Ordered my laptop - was really scary, I was doing it and didn't want to! Kept thinking of how much money it was, when technically mine does work, I'm on it now, its just on top of the candles!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

But now you can think 'I'm getting a neeeew laptop and it's red and it's called bertie and it's nice and stuff' how long until you get it?
*edit*
