When you say recipe do you mean instructions? As most of your meals are usually microwave for four minutes that's what I'd do. ;):D:p

:j :j :j Well, all the ingredients for my lentil soup are now in the slow cooker. I wanted spicy, so also added some peri-peri sauce. Hopefully it wont be too hot :j :j :j

DH is working at the kitchen table with lots of papers spread about so staying out of his way.

Have a tray of tea and happy browsing on here for a while.

Will make shepherd's pie with turkey mince tonight and want to make a loaf in the Panny this afternoon.

A double electrical socket in the kitchen has not worked for ages so am going to try to get a local electrician to fix it.

Just realised that if I changed two double sockets for two triple sockets then I would be able to have the kettle, Panny, slow cooker and Remoska (if I ever get one) on at the same time.

Still "reminding" DH he promised to drive me to get a sack of potatoes, carrots and onions for winter.

Every time I see a good deal on candles I buy a few and hide them away as I am convinced there are going to be power cuts this winter.

    Hugs to everybody feeling low.

Can't remember where I saw it but there has been a study that showed rubbing extra virgin olive oil into shoulders etc worked as well as Ibuprofen gel for aches and pain.

    Hi everyone.

Nelski - what beautifully presented cakes! Thanks - mine never look like that!

Pippa - hope DH comes back from the Dr's with good news.

Tallking about retirement - or semi-retirement in my case because I still work but from home now - my DIL1's Mum told me, when I left my last 'outside the home' job, that she doesn't know how she ever found the time to go to work; she said 'you'll be busier than when you were working'. Well, she was dead right! I find it very hard just to sit and do nothing which drives my DH mad but I think you get used to being busy and up against time and it's a hard habit to drop. The best thing about it is not having to drive in the rush hour, especially on the way home when all you want to do is get back and get the dinner on! I don't think I'll ever retire properly!

Well, I've had a very busy morning and gave downstairs a good dust and polish, sorted out some paperwork, prepped the stuff for dinner and did my poached pears in wine in the Remoska. I added the last twenty blackberries that I found in the garden and some cinammon and sugar and they look delicious. The juice tastes brilliant. I shall serve them warm with some plain vanilla icecream for pudding.

With all this talk about lentils (I'm trying to ignore the spider conversation!) I think I'd better stock up. They are so useful and were lovely in my soup the other day so I shall buy some more, along with some pearl barley and any of the other things that are good fillers in stews and so on. They're all still quite cheap, too.

R.Mac - enjoy the knitting meet; it'll be nice to meet people with the same interests and I'm sure they'll enjoy Twink's hobnobs! I hope you're keeping well.

Anyway, I'm just about to walk up to the local shops and get the paper so I'll see you later.

  • Nelski, were there cakes somewhere in that picture then...?! I didn't notice..... ;)

Been to Asda - spent £29 on householdy stuff, and then another £58 on a teal-blue velvety jacket, shoes, t-shirt, bra & earrings. Oh and a kettle! I'll pay the second bit back from my student loan in 3 weeks' time :)
Got one load of washing out, another due to finish shortly & then to the cinema at lunchtime (with sweets from Asda to be smuggled in).

Thanks Kathy he got back a few minutes ago, and yes it is good news, his BP is down from 200 to 151, and the Doc is really pleased with him, so the new pills he put OH on last week must be working....PHEW thank goodness for that :j
The Doc was worried because OH's younger brother(by 14yrs) had a heart attack at 38 (10yrs ago) and last year had a heart transplant, MIL has an irregular heart beat and they both have sky high BP. It runs in the family so the Doc said. I never knew things like that did, anyway we are off out now for a bit of a wander round, to see if we can pick up any bargains ;)

BTW I have posted my Pimped Boob on the LH site, I feel really clever now, do you think I am beginning to pick up all this techie lark :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Sorry I have rambled on a bit....:o
  • Well I'm pleased to report that the 3 poorlies seem to be completely on the mend, the girls have eaten some toast and ds is alive and has had a shower! No more bowls to deal with, yippee!

More good news is that a friend is flying back from Afghanistan tomorrow, shame all the troops aren't coming home with him. It's amazing, you don't realise quite how worried you are until the worry has passed sometimes, iyswim!

Got the Thompson and Morgan catalogue this morn, with a £5 voucher and no min spend, can't go wrong with that! Had a quick browse and going to have a longer perusal whilst the soup is cooking, there seem so many lovely things, will have to get myself over to the greenfingered thread for some recommendations, also want to get some indoor growing seeds for toms at least, took down blog details about an indoor gardener so will have a look at that too!

Just heard Gatwick airport is up for sale, and Lloyds and HBOS are in merger talks, things seem to be getting really strange at the mo. Best start stockpiling my lentils I think!
