OS DAILY 17th Sept,2008

Hi,This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

    Morning All

Probably too many things going round my head to sleep later, but have had 6 hours so will cope.

Kaat_Lady - your light is out so presume you have gone back to bed. Here is the story, I saw it referred to on Teletext (DH is addicted to that). Right must go and do some quiet paperwork.

    ((((hugs))))) all round

Morning Kaat, I did see that a boy had been killed/injured whilst climbing a pylon on Sunday, I think it was near Rotherham. (thanks Donny that was the one I saw)
For some strange reason, I can't hear any sound on my lappie at the moment.
I saw the clip of Rzl at The Proms, but couldn't hear them. Rzl you looked fab.

Floss, I didn't see your post about Tesco until this morning, shame or I could have gone wild :D I saw that they are busy extending again, I'd better avoid Asda also when Tesco are closed.
Morwenna, I find some reductions in the CO-OP near me (on the drive Floss ;) ) I do like their sausages. My work gas and electric contracts are due soon :( I may ask for any sggestions.

My engineer did arrive yesterday, although he didn't ring me. Fortunately one of the girls was still there and phoned me grrrrrrr. He did manage to get the machine fixed, although first thing he tried was changing the handle and said 'oh look it still doesn't work' That was the first thing I tried and I advised them of that when I reported the fault. He left the new handle on and I managed to grab the old one before he disposed of it. 'That's for the bin' was his comment. !!!!!! it worked perfectly well on my other machine  Oh well I'll wait for the bill to arrive.

Hester, did your man come yesterday and was he any good ;)
Troo, I remember you doing the cleaning session, I didn't realise FIL returned. Maybe he didn't like asking you himself, you could find yourself with a few to do if word gets out. Think of all the tea and biscuits.

Mr Twit has gone to work, taken the car today, it needs diesel in (just for a change  )
I'm in work today and I need to print off some new price posters for my shop. Countless lives I will ruin today by having a price increase.

Love and hugs to all The Twit :grouphug:

    Morning.

    I feel good this morning.

The OH car passed the MOT yesterday with a few advisory points, but that saved a bundle and the car is 12 years old too!

On my course I met 2 head teachers from primary schools and they want my OH for supply work after I talked upa storm about her, so 2 good things in one day.

Went shopping last night and forgot my wallet so had to ask daughter if she would pay on her catd and I would get the money back to her today. She agreed, but the face on it when it was time to pay. You would have thought we had emptied her bank account and kicked her out of the house. Funny....

Well part 2 of the course today and then back to reality tommorrow.

    Have a nice day... Cheers

N9eav, that's good news both on the car and the job for your wife front. I think it works out cheaper for the school if they can employ direct as it saves the agency cut. Now, today's mission is to find work for Troo, Shez and Tired Mum (sure there was someone else) :D

I have sympathy, I have never not worked since I was 13. But having seen my OH suffer for the past 3 months, and qualified as a teacher too, has made me realise how totally mind sapping it is.
I hope somthing comes their way soon....

Don't look for any for me though please, I am working harder now than I did when I was employed full time+.  Did someone mention having time to do what you wanted when you wanted when you retired??

Wondering if I need to go back to work for a rest - No, the commute would be too far from Spain.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Thanks for the wake-up Kaat!

Busy day ahead - work suddenly seems to have gone mad after the quiet start. It was ever going to happen - I love it when it's like this!

Keeping on with the house sorting this evening. Only 8 days now - this time next week I'll be able to say he's coming tomorrow!!!!

Hope this dry weather continues until the weekend - I haven't cut the lawn for ages and as it's on clay it's still too squelchy. Dry weather until Saturday might just make it doable.

Have a good day - off to tend the lil green patches!

    Morning :hello:

Turns out I haven't quite fixed the PC, the sound isn't working. Bargain Rzl, I can't comment on how you sound, but you look fab :D

N9eav, the day after I lost my job I spent 2 solid days on the net looking for a job and it frazzled my brain :D Learnt not to look at any company names that end with 'enterprise' or 'solutions' lol. Whatatwit, I wondered if I could get a few jobs cleaning, I could fit it in when it suits me. I could whizz around on my bike, with a backpack full of stardrops and soda crystals :D Shame I don't live near PP, I'm never late, never leave early and don't have small children :D

I'm still picking tomatoes from the garden, wish they'd hurry up and finish cos I want to get the new greenhouse in it's place. We've put the frame together but it's sat in the middle of the garden at the mo, the glass is stacked against the wall. Every time someone goes outside, I worry they're going to break it

    Morning all,

Nice but cold here today, I had to put an extra old fleece thing on our bed last night, I must get a new one as this is not fit to be seen, but it kept us warm.

Garden recycling and rubbish needs to go out today, OH will do that on his way out to work.

Off to work for me today, so no jam, or cake making, but I suppose at least the bills get paid.

Pasta with panchetta, garlic and onions for tea with pesto and creme freiche sauce, sort of a frigde sweep tea :D , oh and garlic bread.

Poppy, how exciting, roll on next week xx

Katt 'thank you for the music' :D

Hugs to smoky, candy, pen pin, and anyone in need xx

    Have good days all xx
