just incase you dont stalk the pregnancy thread i copied this:

    Hi
I'm Lynsey's Mum, she's asked me to let you all know, that she was rushed into hospital around 4am ish on Sunday, and had to have an emergency C section.
She has a lovely little boy, Rhys, 9 weeks early. Things are very touch and go at the moment. He's nearly breathing on his own, and tests need to be done today.
She had a rare condition 1 in 2500, called vasa previa, I think she called it.
    He weighs 3pounds 6 ounces.

Any way she just wanted you all to know, and she'll get in touch when she can, but I might let you know how she's doing if it'll be a while.

Lynsey is doing fine herself she says Rhys knows when she's there, and Craig is brilliant!

    Love to all, Julie

Oh poor Lynsey, how horrible for her :(

I hope everyone else is ok today. It is horrible weather here, so I'm looking at the clouds and wind out of the window, and am feeling cosy on my sofa. Definitely a day to get the housework done I think! We're going swimming this afternoon too :) (were going to go this morning, but didn't manage to have breakfast before taking DH to work, and by the time I'd got back and eaten it wasn't worth going before the pool shuts for lessons.)

I need to ask some advice from you lot - I've decided to tackle the "puting baby down awake" thing soon. We're off to a wedding weekend after next, so I think it will be best to get that out of the way first. (It will be a "put her in sleeping bag at normal time and see if she will fall asleep on me so we can stay a bit later" job I think!) So my target to start is 1st June.

I'm having a read up on different techniques at the moment. We have a bedtime routie anyway (bath, masage, bit of baby yoga if she's not too tired, into sleeping bag, cuddle with Daddy, book, feed) She normally falls asleep on my while she is feeding, and then I try and gently transfer her into the cot without waking her up. If she wakes up I try sshhhhh! and if that doesn't work then a bit more food and we try again.

I'm thinking of waking her up after the feed, having a proper burp (I stop while she is feeding at bedtime, but having one at the end instead would be a good way to wake her!) then doing a story then instead. Then put her down awake. I'm thinking leave her to it to start with, and then come back and sit next to her with a book and some shhhhing if it seems necessary. Does that sound realistic?

Sometimes she goes into a massive deep sleep when I'm feeding her, so if there is no waking her up she will have to go down asleep, but that is fine by me :)

Then I'll have to do the same at the nighttime feed (but without the story) and put up with being tired for a few nights till she gets the hang of it.

I'm going to try and put her down awake for naps now though, when I can get away with it. Again, she normally falls asleep on me, and I try and transfer her to the cot without waking her. I will instead try and wake her a little bit as I transfer her, then she can drift off again once in the cot. At the moment I won't worry about putting her down for a nap when it's not just after a feed - she is feeding often enough that she will wake up hungry too soon if I don't ;) Once we are a bit further along with weaning, and she is having less milk we will have to work on this bit I expect.

Does this all sound realistic or am I barking? Any other ideas?

I hope he'll be ok. That has really upset me now. Bought back horrible memories of the difficult time we went through. My thoughts and prayers with them also.

my thoughts are with elle-gee and little Rhys.

MFD - congrats on your new modelling career.

weaning - my LO is seeming ready, but I'm waiting for the 17wk point before trying very small amounts of baby rice and progressing to purees. we are planning a mix of purees and BLW

lady - we would love to get to putting LO down awake stage too. your plan sounds good to me - you can always trya nd make adjustments as you see what works and what doesn't. do keep us updates. we are a couple wks behind you so watch your progress with earnest :D

question - does anyone use a 'bumbo' seat???

lady erin falls asleep on me but as she sleeps all night then i cant complain and will keep doing this until she stops lol! Unless your unhappy getting her to fall asleep the way she does then i owuldnt change it?? Erin does fall asleep in her bouncer and pram by herself so i know she can do it.

I have a bumbo used it with Abi and Charlie. i thought they were great as the other kids could play with baby and they were happy. As Charlie got bigger he managed to escape from his pushing his feet on the floor and lifting his bum up!

Weaning - Erin is 13 weeks on wed and TBH she seems to be getting enough from BF so im in no hurry to start her on anything. Charlie was around 5/6 months but i done the BLW and TBH it was great and he eats everything!

well Megan has tonsillitis so she is off school this week. Just hope noone else comes down with it!

r.mac - I know lots of people swear by bumbos but Chris didn't get on with his - thankfully it was just on loan from a friend but I was so glad I hadn't forked out the cash for one. Do they have one at a group you go to or do u have a friend who's got one?

Caz - was it Megan that was being a handful last week? do you think it was just her starting to feel ill?
oh and how is Abi doing is she back at nursery?

Hope elle & rhys are ok. THanks Caz for bringing the news. Keep us updated. Can't believe she thought to get her mum to post a message!

Ladybird - why don't you try switching the routine a little so you feed her and then she has a bit of activity, cuddle with daddy, read a book etc? If you're aiming for falling asleep herself I wouldn't read to her, but being there are shushing was something we did early on. I guess you're aiming for her not to be so tired she conks out while feeding, so if you don't want to change the order you could start a little earlier? Doing it during the day will def help with her getting the idea.

I had a funny rash appear on Sat am and have today been diagnosed with shingles! No danger to baby as I'm so far gone, but Imogen could get chickenpox, which would be pretty bloomin' inconvenient TBH! Oddly a girl I work with has also been diagnosed this am (we both went to the local walk-in centre) although us both having it at the same time is a complete coincidence as shingles itself isn't contagious. We were given different advice - she was told to go home, I was told to stay. But as we both feel fine we're staying at work for now. I'm going to work from home tomorrow, and had planned to on Weds anyway, then I'm off until next Tues so won't be far off it disappearing then anyway.

Does it have to be so complicated?!

megans always a handful lol think a lot of it is hormones starting to appear, she is 9 in nov:eek: doc said she has seen a few kids this morning so looks like its going around the school?

My neighbour has started to take abi to nursery every moring and she goes no problem, looks like she was seeing how far she could push me!

oh i got an update on dog this morning they said she is great having lots of fun but they did have a bit of trouble getting her back into the house after a walk? the dogs sleep in their beds and lie on their seatees so she must be wondering whats going on as she never had that here lol!:D
