i'm having a nightmare with seth the past couple of days, he just WILL NOT settle! he's started hand chewing, i put him down with the dummy and he flicks it out and chews his hands instead but ends up wide awake and crying, then gets overtired, talk about a vicious circle! the one and only thing i can do is cuddle him off to sleep but i dont want to get into this habit and its driving me mad! especially after a bl00dy long night when he refuses to go back to sleep and it makes a night feed turn into a two hour battle! is there anything i can do?
i'm going through the very same thing emlou. saying that, i have never been able to put my little girl down for her to go off to sleep on her own. She is always nursed to sleep.
i am trying to work out some kind of routine (hubby works evening) so my little one does not get over tired, but of course i can not make her sleep if she doesn't want to.
if she is alseep, so only needs to start stiring and the eyes come straight open.
i am having to swaddle her to get her to go to sleep but i use a sheet and she can get her hands out of it. saying that she has now woken herself up doing just that.
i am also finding that she is not always taking full feeds of 150ml (she is 8 weeks) and not sleeping very much during the day again (as she had been good for a few days at the start of the week) - 2 hours total if i am lucky0 -
hmm maybe its an age thing cos our wee ones are the same age? i miss the days he would sleep for longer than 2 hours in the day
at least he sleeps long enough to grab a shower though, cant complain! i'm going to go with sami's "anything for a easy life" theory i think but still attempt it a couple of times a day.
how good is she at sleeping through the night now? last night seth was brilliant, went down at 9:45 and then up at 3 for a feed and slept til 7am, i feel rather rested today! bet it doesnt last lolMummy to

i agree with the anything for an easy life - but a word of caution  heres the bit coming that i hated anyone telling me! - i cuddled Oz to sleep for months cos thats the only way he would nap during the day - either cuddles or bouncy chair, and he got to the point where he couldnt go to sleep anywhere else - which was a pain for me, I had to retrain him to go to sleep in his cot during the day (when he was about 6 months) and it was quite hard for a while. Course now he'll only go to sleep in his cot which means when he needs a nap i have to get home sharpish if we're out or i have a very grumpy little man.
So all i'm saying is really - yes anything for an easy life - but keep trying to put baby back down in cot/moses basket whatever every so often and one day maybe it'll click that thats where he's supposed to nap!DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY

Hey AF and em!
Benjamin is a day older than Seth and a week older than your daughter AF and I can safely say we have gone through / are going through the same thing
I have decided to stop worrying about how much he sleeps (sleep diary out of the window!) and just enjoy playing with him and will let him sleep when he is ready. Worked well for me yesterday...although my mum and dad came over and sat with him for 3 hours last night and I think he ran them raggedmy mum looked shattered and was stood rocking him when we came in.
As soon as I came back in he fed for 15 minutes and fell fast asleep :rolleyes:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
:j:j:j Benjamin and I are going to be breastfeeding pin-ups
We went to an event for Breastfeeding Awareness week yesterday and we were asked if we would pose for some publicity shots. So we are in a cafe scene with me feeding Benjamin, firstly whilst chatting with friends and then smiling down at him
The shots will be used as publicity for the breastfeeding campaign locally and in the local hospital.

I feed Erin in bed at night and she falls asleep, she is put in her own bed and sleeps through! in the morning my boobs are huge and full to bursting and i cant wait until she wakes and relieves them! i havent had any success with expressing as she empties me completly.
Charlie has woken up in a good mood, we picked up a rabbit last night so he is amazed by it and is surprisingly very gentle??
R.Mac i would laugh too if he was someone elses and is it not funny when you get grinned at and all the babling lol:)What's for you won't go past you0 -

thats another thing, when people say they enjoy night feeds cos its private time, !!!!!!? how can anyone enjoy being awake in the middle of the night?? madness i tell thee! :rotfl:Mummy to
