  • ooo - caz, Stafford is only 20 mins max from me (and Krystal and Keeley) - we could do MSE baby meets :D

Bad day yesterday, Benjamin had me in tears 3 times...once because he was all smiles and I felt like a terrible mummy :o

I texted hubby to let him know I wasn't doing very well and he came home, lifted the baby out of the bed ( where we had ended up in desparation ) and ordered me to sleep. He then cooked dinner and ran me a bath when Benjamin went to sleep about 7.45pm. It made the absolute world of difference :A

I will NOT say why doesn't he do that all the time :o I will just thank my lucly stars that he will come to my rescue when I need him to.

Can anyone offer any advice on expressing? Feelie if you are around you must be an expert now!

I've expressed before with no problems but now my supply has settled down it's much harder, it took me all day yesterday, expressing for half an hour or so after every feed, to get 3oz.

Any ideas anyone? i do it with ello sat next to me which is supposed to help, I can't do it at the same time as feeding cos ello is a wriggler and i need both hands.

On topic of baby carriers and slings, does anyone have any experience making their own adjustments to straps? We've bought a new 'structured carrier' (the Yamo) which seems very nice but I am quite a large man and I want to extend the straps to fit a 6'5" person. So I am going to need more strap and buckle material of the same width etc I guess... no clue where to find them, maybe fabric shops might sell the right stuff?

AM - when I had Chris I think they said u could have the water for something like 24hrs, out of the fridge.
BUT the current advice is to make up all feeds with freshly boiled water or use a carton.
which u follow is ur choice :)

no experience myself OH reckons "thats what arms are for" :p
but I was intrigued and found this with a quick google of "webbing straps"

The main problem I would foresee is that sewing the extension on it might be too thick for a normal sewing machine

Thanks Sami - yep, I was envisaging a whole extra buckle and strap - so buckle it to the existing buckle, rather than sewing anything new, but dunno how practical that is :) I may experiment though.
  • McSmiler - I was thinking this morning as I was expressing that maybe you should buy another pump (do you still have your tt hand-pump) - I did a little experiment and when my Medela swing has 'finished' expressing me I can get a little more out with my tt hand pump...only another half an ounce, an ounce at most, but it is more nontheless!

MM - I can never express after a feed - Benjamin wipes me out. I do express little and often whilst he sleeps though (express every hour and keep adding to it)...well I did when he was sleeping in the evenings
Does Ello take both boobs? Sometimes if Benjamin is just snacking I will put him back on the same boob so that the other has time to build up some stores to express IYSWIM :o

  • LOL - one of the girls on the pregnancy thread got tights to test from Emma Jane :rotfl:

If they give me tights I will be wearing them on my head a-la-bank-robber to amuse Benjamin :rotfl:

    I want a bra :D

    ..and a swimsuit ;):D

Hopefully, because we're not after maternity wear - we'll get lots of lovely nursing bra's/swimwear! Ohhh - hurry up postie!
