Evening all, my LO seems to have some conjunctivitus at the moment, que constant eye wiping with warm water and cotton pads... did ever of you take your Lo's to the drs with this or just let it work its way out?

Had a nice day repotting my veggies for the garden, buying new shoes for Henry and a quick trip to Mr.Ts as OH did shopping yesterday for me ... even managed a sneaky trip to the pub (with OH and LO) hooray !!

It is usually best to go to the drs, as it is very contagious and can easily spread to the other eye...also you could catch it yourself. The doctor will give you Cloronphenicol drops, that can actually be bought at the chemist but not for under two's...they need to be prescribed.

Thanks for the reassurances guys. I'm just a bit worried about the strength of the 'black feelings', probably overly cautious about PND.

Health Check was bit worrying, got to have an ultrasound on him next week, check where his testicles are :( He has jaundice too, and feeding is going very badly.
Hi Feelie, welcome to the thread! :) As everyone else has said, it's so natural to feel mega down on the third day (and the rest!). I think when I had DS1 I must have cried every day for the first two or three weeks :o - it's the hormones, the exhaustion, the lack of sleep, the worry, the not knowing what you are doing - everything! You will feel better though! :)

Jaundice is very common - my DS1 had it too. Hopefully the weather is ok where you are, as sunshine is supposed to help with that.

Good luck with the ultrasound for next week, and hope someone will be able to help with the feeding. It's so hard being a new mum! :grouphug:

It was a shoe-buying day for us too. Two kids, 4 new pairs, how much money???!!!:eek::eek: And this was a Clarks factory outlet, so not paying RRP!

Jaundice - DS ended up under a heat lamp for 15 hours straight at a week old to sort his out, i advise who ever it is with a simpsony coloured baby EDIT - feeling good - to make sure you have a bag packed that would see you both overnight, sling it in the car or adapt your nappy bag if you go to the docs or hospital about it...
cos we really got caught out, they wouldnt let us leave until his bilurubin levels had dropped and we had very little with us, OH had to nip over to asda for supplies
i dont know if there is a connection but Danny didnt feed well either, it will all be fine in the end,
i say this as a mother who almost ended up in the special care ward with a poorly sick yellow baby (not to mention the state i was in having had a c section and no rest) who now has a healthy cheeky 17 month old monster running circles around me

conjunctivitis - this is just me...but....i dont bother going to the docs for this, they only tell you to do the cotton wool wipe thing, one wipe from inside to outside of eye per damp cotton wool ball,
accept the fact it WILL spread to both eyes no matter how hard you try...
and wash your hands! wash your hands! wash your hands!

i think i took DD to docs with it once and they gave me some drops, one drop in and she screamed for 20 minutes.. so i never did it again

Jaundice makes them sleepy, so poor feeders. Both mine had it, DS1 was 2 weeks phototherapy and DS2 was a week I think. But they got through it with no problems. We used to joke that DS1 will be a surgeon as he used to shake so much with it, poor wee lamb! He was a proper tango baby.

I don't bother with GP for conjunctivitis unless it's making the eyes stick together. DS2 gets it when he has something else usually. Lowered immune system.

Did I mention that my kids were angels in asda's? So proud! Only took the threat of no party :D

Charlotte had jaundice. Natural sunlight helps. On sunny days, I used to put her in her bouncy chair and stick her by the window :D
Here I go again on my own....

mel - lewis was a screamer and also breastfed they would like to be latched on 24/7. think it is more comfort as my HV saw what she was like and told me to buy a dummy! i am anti dummy but thought it was worth a go but she wouldnt take it!

feelie - i had a few bad days too and the feeding wasnt going well either, just ask crystal how many msg she had with me in tears as i thought i was useless. the day my milk came in was when she settled and it seemed to be that she was starving(no change now she is always hungry lol!) remember babies dont come with instructions or batteries and they are very complicated things. just remember your not the first or last mummy that feels like this and you know where we all are xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
