I hated being on the pill... Tried 2 different ones... Both of them made me feel like early prgnancy... Although not so morning sick lol.. Was so glad to come off the pill for that month before I got knocked up... Think we're going to give the coil a try after this baby... But I do with there was an implant or something hubby could have so I didn't have to worry!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

Sami - they do physically take it out of your arm, but the cut is about 3mm long and you can't see my scars unless I point them out. I perceive that to be less invasive than ferreting around 'down there' but others will probably have different opinions.

OH is off for a 'permanent solution' after this one arrives, so hopefully I won't have to put any more horrible hormones into my body. I think the coil would be my next (and only) option if we had to go down that route. They wouldn't let me have it when I first had the implant cos I hadn't had kids. Not sure if the rules are the same now?
Ahh see the need to cut = me out the door :rotfl:
Its funny how we are all diferently affected by theses things isn't it?
I'll be going back to my IUS after this bubba, OH has mentioned the snip but I'm not sure coz I know I want more children and we may have a change of heart or circumstance that means we couldn't/wouldn't foster/adopt as planned and in that case I would probably pop another 2 out (yes just like that 'pop' :p)
I had an awful time with various pills the worst being microgynon (sp?) after the 2nd pill of a new pack I would get the shakes and go all clamy and often be physically sick _pale_
condoms.. well all I'll say on that is Christopher wasn't planned :o
The IUS was the perfect solution for me as they just pop it in there and you pretty much forget about it and ur periods if ur lucky!! I still had periods but they were incredibly light and only lasted 3 days:j
having it removed is I'm told like having a smear test (I've not had a smear) and I think they can do both at the same time

That was the pill I was on for years, which started to send me loopy!!
Does the IUS hurt after being fitted? A friends daughter had either the IUS/IUD (can't remember which one!) and said she was in agony for a few days after having it fitted:confused: This story put me off it even more!

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
  • nope, done right you shouldnt feel it at all..
having said that i find i always have trouble with the little strings, they are always too bloody long and quite irritating, ive had to go back and have them cut before now

Sami is right, its just like having a smear, uncomfortable at worst and over quickly enough but totally worth it for the lack of periods that it provides (oh... and the prevention of pregnancy of course! lol)
  • ladybird - I want to go back on the pill too (will have to be the mini-pill) - I hate the thought of them putting anything in me that I can't control.

We have another busy week with Benjamin - hip scan tomorrow and then the Consultant Paediatrician on Thursday for the results of all the tests on Benjamins arm. We are pretty convinced that he/we will be given the all-clear but there is still that niggling doubt...

I am used to kids taking things literally, my 9 year old step son thrives on pointing out whenever you use the wrong word - bless him. He really is a lovely kid - his dad asked him the other week what he wanted if we won the £14M lottery jackpot...DSS thought for a second and then he said 'I think I would like to go to Alton Towers' - bless him!!! He didn't even want to take any friends with him - just to go with us! What a sweetheart - how many kids would have asked for the world.

  • Hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday weekend! :D

I've gone on to Cerazette POP which has to be taken every single day without a break. Apparently you can be lucky and never had a period on it but I'm not so fortunate!. I'm limited to what pill the Dr will prescribe due to my BP and weight and its suiting me fine at the moment. But I have read some horror stories after googling!.

I'm pretty sure that our family is complete now and DH has agreed to get the snip at some point but I'm worried in case we change our minds! :o

MFD, I'm sure everything will be just fine tomorrow. How are things with Benjamin settling?

    xx
  • I'm giggling at all the fib storys, classic, thanks!!

CG, did I read that right? Are you TTC? Good luck if you are, my thoughts are with you.

Jack is also in the "you want it? i'll either throw it or run off shouting NOOOO" camp. Annoying as that is. I keep saying "Its his Age!!!".

We've had such a busy weekend. On Good Friday I had a couple of freecycle collection in the morning. Got home to see that Molly had fallen asleep on her lunch and in her buggy. DH and I got some chores done and then our Easter guests decsecnded. 2 adult friends and their 3yr old. Friday night after kids in bed approx 9pm we had enchilladas and doritas snack things whilst watching the Quantum of Solace James Bond film, a late night. DH and I slept on airbed in utility (so it left lounge free for Miss Molly in the morn). I got up with her at 7am, then Jack and P got up. Then slowly adults, we managed to get ourselves to a soft play around 11am. Got home around 4pm. Play iin garden, then took kids to a £1 meal pub(very MSE) for our dinner, then the men dropped me and my girlfriend down the social club and they put the kids to bed. Came home at half 11, cuppa bed etc midnite. East sunday, up and running by 10 and we went to Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum. Totally tired out kids and adults, got home and had quick cuppa whilst preparing roast dinner and sorting kids out with their easter egg hunt, bath and bed. We ended up eating shorting before 9pm, then spent the rest of the night till 1am on the Wii bowling and Wii Fit, having totally hysterics at each other.

This morning (after our third night on the airbed) our house guests left approx 10am, followed by a playdate for Jack that i'd arrnaged weeks ago, but our easter guests stayed an extra night unplanned. Jack's friend left about 2pm and then my bro an his family came over at half past. Lots of playing in the garden and park behind us and they left at half 5. 6pm a mate of mine comes around unexpectedly whilst i'm trying to get kids ready for bed. 7pm Molly down, mate goes and then 7.30pm next door neighbour comes round (she's been to USA for a week and wants to share). By the time she's gone and i've eaten my last dinner mouthful, its now. Full on or what? I am so tired I don't even know why i'm here typing this.

    Madness but great.

I had period type pain for about 3 hours after I had it put in and then nothing after that, I usually have very painful periods but they aren't painful at all with the IUS -I really can't recommend it enough from my experience of it (the one I had was called Mirena I think)

MFD - good luck with the hip scan, Chris weed on the Dr at his :o
Your DSS just sounds like the sweetest boy ever,:A is he enjoying his new little brother?
I always said if we won the lottery I'd get a house for us and my Mum n Dad with lots of land and a lake so my dad could go shooting and fishing everyday and we would have breeding and boarding kennels that would make me the happiest person alive - family and dogs what more could you want!:D

I'm glad there's a few of us who aren't sure about OH's getting the snip - I don't like that its pretty final. Our saving grace is that I have heard on the grapevine that even though we're married with 2 kids 'they' wouldn't snip my OH because he's too young, I've heard a few different ages batted about but most common one was 30 so thats 6yrs away for us so plenty time to decide

My hubby has said that if he gets to 35 and I'm adamant that I don't want another one then he'll get the snip... It's 6 years away so I think if we were going to have a 3rd we'd of decided by then anyway... He's not so keen on doing it all again as he was a few months ago... Think the reality of pregnancy is actually sinking in! Although I'm sure as soon as we have a cutey little baby he'll forget all about it...

my hubby is older then me, but if he asked-i bet they'd say no to giving him the snip because of my age (being younger). i'm stuck as to what contraception to use right now with my bp still being regularly monitored i can't go back on the pill (at least for yet anyway). the implant was a disaster and the mini pill is similar hormones so thats a no go. most things seem to be full of the wrong hormones or are invasive for me-ie i really dont want a coil, hate the idea. so i'm stuck with condoms for now hoping they don't break or anything!!
