Bailey - no advice to offer, just sending hugs and try not to panic - whatever happens it is fate and you'll find a way to cope.

I'm after advice ladies. I wasn't going to try to potty train until the long summer hols, but have followed Izzy's lead as I'd got the potties down from the loft and she just out of the blue sat on one and produced a wee! We've had a few days over the easter hols so far where I've left her to run about naked and she just goes to the potty when she needs to and either wees or poos.

So we bought her some big girl peppa pig knickers and I've tried dressing her but she just wees in them every time. Seems like she thinks they are a nappy and she doesn't seem to get it that she ends up wet and uncomfortable as she doesn't seem to be learning. We are on the third pair of knickers and trousers today, am I right to just keep persevering?? I don't remember having this trouble with Olivia.

I asked her so many times this morning if she needed to use the potty and she kept saying no. I said she would end up with wet peppa and wet trousers if she did a wee in them and she said, ok, I've got wet trousers and promptly piddled in them on cue!! I guess all I can do is keep trying and keep asking her. Perhaps I'll make her try to go on her potty in a minute as it's been a while since the last accident, but she's pretty headstrong and isn't easily persuaded to do anything she doesn't want to do!!

It's just a shame as she can do it perfectly when she's naked, but obviously that isn't an option once we're back at work and she's back to the childminder (who has 2 other kids she looks after so won't want to be housebound). We've still got a week I guess....

I'm so worried about PTing Chris :o he's showing signs now but I'm sure he won't be ready for a while, I've got the training in 1 week book by Gina Ford for when the time comes but I'm not looking forward to it, I just know he'll be ready once bubs is crawling or something just so I'm super stressed :p

I've been meaning to ask you.. What did Olivia think of those poetry books?

I had that GF book for Olivia but didn't rate it too much so sold it on amazon!! Wish I'd hung onto it now :rotfl:

She loved those books by the way, especially the twinkle twinkle chocolate bar one as it has gorgeous illustrations too.

Izzy absolutely point blank refuses to be told to use the potty, so i think it will be a mistake to force the issue. She's currently sitting on it fully dressed  so cue knickers and trousers number 5 I expect!! Why are kids soooo bloody obstinate?!?!

I'm not really a great person to ask, Aimee has many problems with her waterworks now... But I always find taking her to the toilet works better than asking her wether she wants to go... If you ask every 20mins or so like the books recommend, you end up getting sick of asking and they get sick of you asking... I would give it an hour or so, then sit her on the potty... If she produces something, plenty of positive re-inforcement... If she doesn't... Never mind, we'll try again in an hour...

A little success just now as she went back to sit on it fully dressed again so I asked her if she needed to go and she actually said yes!! Hurrah, we quickly whipped her stuff off and she did a lovely big one. Cue lots of praise and cheering and she looked very pleased.

Krystaltips, the only problem when I try to get her to sit on it when she doesn't want to is that she starts screeching at me to get off cos she doesn't want to go
  • Bailey - I still don't have any advice but ((HUGS)) to you.

I have a stinking cold - I am pretty sure that I can't pass it onto Benjamin at the moment can I? He is 4 weeks today and is being breastfed.

He's grumpy as hell today - he's not sleeping for very long then he just wants to feed...I'm just going with it for the moment.

It is possible to pass things on to him, but because your body is making antibodies to fight your cold, your milk will be full of them so he'll be well protected.

Also, at 4-6 weeks they can start to feed a lot to up your milk supply, give it a while and he'll settle down again :)

MFD - yes he can get your cold as Krystal as said but you'll find by breastfeeding him anything he gets will most likely be shortlived and he'll get well really quickly - because of the breast milk - since October Oz has had colds, bronchialitis and croup - but (touch wood he still will) recovers very quickly, I believe its to do with being breast fed anyway.

MFD, Celia caught the most horrendous cold at Christmas, as soon as I caught it from her she started getting better so much faster it was amazing so don't worry, even if he does catch your cold it should pass fairly easily. I remember the 6ish week growth spurt well it does pass and it got a lot easier after it.
